Horizon 5's map isn't diverse at all. Here's why

Mexico City…

Adding Mexico city would be a fantastic idea

Which is exactly why PG won’t do it

More buildings in the open area to give it a less empty feeling and of course

Mexico City
but don’t get me wrong, i like the map and the game!

Probably won’t happen until they get over their metropoliphobia.

Couldn’t agree more. The Horizon 5 map is somehow very repetitive and boring. Apart from the three small towns, it feels like there are 5 different buildings on the map, too wide roads with turns that all feel same. Not many places to stop, no parking lots, no gas stations… I don’t know, somehow it feels like a very generic and too gamey map, not realistic or interesting. Even old and low detailed TDU maps from over 10 years ago are better and more fun to drive.

PGG doesn’t do big cities because the series is built around a summer festival atmosphere and in their minds, that means getting out of the city and hitting the open roads. Those houses we “own” are expensive Airbnbs.

Some places have a great layout and roads - for example the Copper Canyon or the area around the Lookout Circuit.

In general there are too many wide & long sweeping corners though, especially in the southern parts of the map.
Visually the whole “wasteland” around the Horizon Main Festival is pretty dull.

The vulcano would’ve needed a second tarmac road enabling it as part of a circuit. Maybe intertwined with the current one to generate a shorter and longer circuit.
That’s what I expected pre-launch because they got it right on Fortune Island with the switchback road.

For me the lack of diversity in weather/lighting conditions is a main factor of boredom with the map.

There are no really distinctive seasons and even within these seasons there’s basically almost always the same weather, it’s either sunny, cloudy or there’s some light rain which will stop soon. There are no days where it just doesn’t stop to rain, or some sudden heavy rain showers that flood the roads within a minute. I also can’t remember a rainy night while driving in the open world.

The nights and the times of interesting lighting conditions like sunset/sunrise are also much to short. There have been numerous times when I was thinking “This game really looks fantastic!” when it wasn’t bright daytime (or when I was in a race event where weather is more diverse) but then after a few minutes the sun always rises and another dull day in Forzaland begins…

Were looking for diversity, but it might be diversity in the gameplay that we’re actually looking for. I used to Drift, but drifting was nerfed. I used to use Auction House, but Auction House was nerfed. I used to do Goliath on Unbeatable, but Unbeatable Goliath was nerfed… same with Colossus. I used to do the stunts in seasonal events, but they were nerfed.

Probably diversity in the game has gone, and people are blaming the map.

In the thread about the leaked Hot Wheels map people are already complaining about the size of the map.
Sure, size matters to some extend, but if it is boring it doesn’t matter how big it is.

For some reason a game isn’t considered a worthy sequel if it doesn’t have a larger map than the previous game. The end result in a lot of games is a huge but boring map. The same goes for FH5.

I for one look forward to the Hot Wheels expansion as it seems they made a lot of the relatively small space available in the map.

Mexico City is almost 14 times bigger than FH5’s whole map. So much for “diversity”.

That’s what I tried to tell her but she said it’s too small :frowning:

Well if it is smaller than the previous one it might feel like a step back. I get that. As I said, size does matter to some extend.

moderation in 3…2…1…

One of the pics of the HW map shows a ramp. …in the water. :grinning:

I have never understood why way too many people like touche.

I don’t know that too many people like touche. In fact, I’m pretty sure most people are on the fence about it.
