Horizon 2 frame rate

Fair enough. But, since we are discussing it here, frame rate is very important for racing games where tenths of a second matter. Sure, Forza Horizon isn’t the ideal competitive racing title, so the recent news that the game will be running at 30 frames per second is no surprise. On the other hand, Turn 10 has stressed the importance of 60 frames per second in its Forza Motorsport titles, and for good reason - more than some may ever care to know.

I feel you man, but who knows it might actually run pretty smooth, What i’m worried about is limitations :frowning:

No, 30 frames per second is damn smooth and Forza Horizon 2 will look great because of it. 60 frames would be better but, as I mentioned, Horizon is one of those games where 30 FPS is sufficient.

I kinda wish it was 60FPS to, man this game would of did wonders and still is !

Agree!! 30 frames here 60 frames there 720P this 1080P that…this was not a huge argument last time around with ps3 and 360 why now? please dont say next gen crap
cause all this hardware is old and its only new to people who dont know squat about tech. The truth is that the human eye has a very hard time telling a diffrence after 40 fps and in all honesty horizon wasnt bad at all.

No joke. All of these postings which question the importance of frame rates - forgetting that the very creators of this franchise have a very good explanation for the expectations of which they’ve set. If frame rates truly did not matter and was not a focus for the Turn 10 team, I’m not sure how significant the Forza franchise would be today.

I think its fair to say, if you don’t care about frame rates, why would you argue one way or another? That said, Turn 10 Studios will continue to set the bar according to what they know is best for virtual racing … not what some Shmoe thinks his/her eyes can or cannot see.

In a genre where tenths of a second matter, having controller input and video output on point - as much as possible - is rather important.

An exeption to this man, he sees all forza games in 4K 200fps

I will be happy if it looks good and runs smooth. I was happy with the original.

I would love an efficient and stable netcode and maps without glitches though.

30 fps is a no go for me, was looking forward to it but I doubt I’ll get it now. 60 fps vs 30 fps is a HUGE difference for me, driving is all about smoothness. To see the difference, just watch a replay off the leaderboards running at the same camera you use in game and then tell me there’s no difference.

I would take 720p and 60fps over 1080p and 30fps any day.

Obvious the difference is there but Horizon is arcade fun orientated game which 30fps is fine for…It’s not a life or death sim.

30 FPS is fine as long as it’s smooth, and steady.

When i play games that’s 30FPS it really doesn’t bother me, if you have a great TV i don’t see how 1080p Native @30FPS would bother someone.

At 100mph a car will cover 146.66 feet per second. At 60Hz that is 2.4 feet travelled per frame and 4.8 feet per frame at 30Hz. Even at 250mph that is still only 12.22 feet between frames, that’s less than most cars length.

The average human reaction time is 0.22 seconds. 30Hz would mean a new screen update every 0.03 seconds. A person would see 7 frames before they could even react anyway. Any “it makes my driving more betterfied” arguments should pretty much be dismissed at this point.

I don’t think that is a big enough difference to make me not play the game.

You’re interchanging words - Hertz (Hz) and frames per second (FPS) are not the same thing. Feel free to do some research to realize the difference. Or don’t. Either way, you are speaking out of context.

Secondly, Turn 10 Studios - a videogame developer - stresses the point of having its Forza Motorsport franchise at 60 FPS for a reason, while other games have made strides to achieve this feat. So, are you as quick to dismiss their reasoning with the argument that you don’t see a difference? As I pointed out earlier, take a look at any one of the Forza Motorsport titles and their vehicles’ mirror images to notice what 30 FPS looks like, compared to 60 FPS.

That said, Forza Horizon is an exception to Turn 10’s rule because there are many things working against it: loads of AI, an open world, day/night transitions and, now, weather effects, all happening at the same time. For these reasons, 30 frames per second should have been anticipated and I expect to enjoy all of the eye candy, as a result.

I don’t care whats in my mirror, only whats in front of me.FH was fine for me and FH2 will be also.Life is not perfect and i don’t expect a game to be either. I play for enjoyment not obsession…

anyway will see the game in action tomorrow.

I guess some of us feel different, but in all i still dont see why its an issue and 30fps is not going to make you crash and no one was really arguing about it 2 years ago about fps just a handful only now it seems everyone is too worried about fps instead of the fun aspect of the game. remember T10 didnt have weather now PG does, too me its too much for the machine to do both with all this eye candy. I said it before xbox one is not a high end gaming PC but a very nice console with an entry level graphics card, let just enjoy the game and stop worrying about fps for FORZA sake!

Agreed. This is why I’ve iterated that, for me, 30 frames per second in Horizon 2 is completely adequate as I soak in the sights and sounds!
