I’m wanting to determine the cause of my Forza 6 racing experience so I can work towards a solution. I’m not sure if it’s a game bug, a wheel software/hardware issue, or very likely user error on my part.
I have my Logitech G920 (bought last week) set for manual with clutch, ABS On, traction control and stability On, NO damage simulation. I’ve also downloaded the latest driver for the G920, hard reset the xbox one, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and still experiencing the same issue. I’ve also changed the various assist settings and the problem still persists, even in automatic mode. I’ve double and triple-checked that the auto braking assist is not active.
The issue:
When racing, I notice, downshifting most notably, that I have a dramatic reduction in acceleration/power. For example, when I downshift from 3 to 2, 2nd gear acceleration is slowed to like 50% throughout the entire power band- it’s as if I’m driving on grass. Shifting to a different gear does not help as the throttle power is reduced, and due to the slowness in acceleration, I can’t get past 4th gear. This mostly happens when downshifting in turns; I come out of the turn to accelerate and there’s hardly any power in the gear. The only fix I’ve found is to hard brake, shift down a gear and then the power is resumed.
This happens multiple times within a race, with all cars raced, and is getting to be annoying and discouraging. Also worth noting is that this happens in Carrer Mode, Free Play, and Test Drive; I haven’t gone online yet.
A regular controller works just fine, as intended. Unfortunately, I don’t have another racing game to test it out on. I’m very tempted to simply exchange the wheel but want to rule out a game bug if others are experiencing the same thing, albeit I’m going to guess this is a pretty isolated case as I haven’t found any similar symptoms in my few hours searching the net.
When I bought my wheel I went in and set all my advanced brake and acceleration settings to 5 -95 and never had an issue, two weeks ago I went and changed my settings to 0-100 and the same happened to me it was like the brakes were on all the time so I put my setting back to 5-95 and problem went away. Good luck.
Problem solved. Thanks Speedster for referring me to the sticky on the mechanics of racing wheels. I guess the developers optimized wheel set ups to accommodate a certain amount of inside/outside deadzone due to their sensory structure. I had modified my wheel settings per a youtuber recommended setting that was a far departure from the default settings. I switched things back to default an hour ago and the wheel now works as intended- problem gone- and I can finally enjoy this game. Case closed and lesson learned!
BTW, I’ve a small favor to ask of you: could you please hook up your pad to a headset/pair of earphones and see if the new “Dolby Atmos for Headphones” setting is working properly? Mine worked great for an hour or so, but now does not work.
