The Hood option is set with FOV on many cars in the Bumper Camera Range. Either give us the option to move the camera much, much, much further back, or do a pass and check and see how many are botched.
I was going to post a similar suggestion but this one will do.
Various cars have very inconsistent points of view in the hood camera. Sometimes cars with long bonnets have the camera placed nearly on headlights (despite setting the FOV for this camera to maximum value).
The recently added 1967 Shelby GT 500 is just one of many examples (and the one that finally motivated me to write about this issue):
If we can’t get fully customizable cameras (but I hope we can at some point), then at least please, place the hood view closer to the windshield
Overall the max FOV setting is way too narrow and very limiting. I can’t think of a single car where you can see both side mirrors using the drivers view but I know some where you can’t see a single mirror without turning the camera.
Basically you are a horse with side blinders driving a car
I was going to make a post about this but this one explains it pretty well.
Pretty much, the hood camera is usually too close to the front of the car and doesn’t seem like the proper camera placement for this view. It also seems like different cars have different camera placement locations on their hood. Some you can see a lot of the hood and some you can’t see any.
Sometimes it’s so far forward that it passes for a bumper cam rather than a hood cam as non of the hood is shown at all. The issue is also exacerbated the lower you set the FOV. I like a lower FOV because it recreates a more natural view with me being as close to my monitor as I am.
Being able to actually view the hood is pretty important to me as I can easily judge being close to a car in front or beside me. It allows me to be a lot more situationally aware than just the bumper cam.
It’d be nice to have the ability to adjust the longitudinal position of the camera even if slightly. Most of the time it needs to be placed more rearward closer to the windshield.
I wonder if this is connected to the big old bonnet/hood swaps on some cars?
With the new cars being released yesterday, the hood camera issue is present on the new Lamborghini Revuelto (that I know of, possibly other new cars as well). It’s probably present on other Lamborghinis as well with their shorter hoods.
I try not to be the person suggesting Forza does exaclty as Gran Turismo, but the way GT has the “hood” camera implemented is pretty much perfect. I recently found out cars with shorter/steeper hoods on GT have their camera placed more near the roof line which would be a nice fix.
So just for an example and a suggested solution to this issue… this is the hood view from the newly released Lamborghini Revuelto. As you can see, literally no “hood” is in sight despite this being the hood view:
In photo mode, I kinda simulated what an updated view should be. Pretty much, if the camera could be placed further up the windshield, this would alleviate the issue.
In photo mode, I don’t think the camera can be placed directly against the car so if that could be done then the angle could be adjusted slightly further up towards the horizon.
