Forzavista is actually kinda laughable. I understand this is somewhat of a massive job for the number of cars, but would it be that difficult to carry over the commentary on the cars from F6? Also, I wouldn’t hold my breath for more environments. F6 had the space and the indication that maybe there would be more but there never was. F4 did it right.
I for one really liked what Forzavista has become (until now). With all that is missing from Forzavista I’m almost convinced that its a bug. There is a huge lack of options this time around.
So can someone clue me in on this ? How do you get into Forzavista on Forza 7 It says to press “R” button… Um I have no “R” button on my steering wheel of the Xbox controller for that matter.
So far I like the game, just not as much as F6. The COD style thing with your driver jumping around at the end of the races, the loot crates, not being able to buy a bone stock car and upgrade it as you see fit. But, and this is just me griping, is the removal of the little blurb of the girl providing some history on the cars in the autovista. I liked hearing some history of 80’s racing and the start of Lamborghini. I know this has nothing to do with the racing itself, just a little extra that made me enjoy the game that much more.
I am stunned – STUNNED – by how bad ForzaVista is. It is so obviously unfinished that the fact it even made it into the game suggests that it is simply a placeholder feature so T10 can say that ForzaVista exists. What I don’t get is how it’s been so good in the past, yet appears so mangled here. It’s almost like they’ve never offered a ForzaVista feature before, like all that work done over the years on the feature has been scrapped in favour of…I don’t know what. I guess all these gamers T10’s trying to reach with their crates and their perks and their loud (however generic) music just don’t have the attention span to sit and explore ForzaVista. There’s a very, scary chance that’s exactly the case and if so, it does not bode well for the rest of the game/series going forward. Not if you’re a Forza veteran like myself.
The garage spaces? Almost a direct rip-off from GRiD – actually more of a rip-off of a cross between NFS: Most Wanted and GRiD – just with much poorer lighting (have the devs ever heard of a glare-reducing polarization filter for a camera? black cars are almost impossible to see in this game) and without the ability to customize certain aspects of the garage, as I’m fairly certain GRiD let you do (your own team colours, logos etc.), albeit in a somewhat rudimentary way. It looks cheap. It looks unfinished. It looks like a mobile game (I keep getting nightmarish flashbacks of my five minutes with CSR2) and when you factor in microtransactions, it’s starting to play like one, too, though that’s a story for another day.
Weirder still is as much as I tend to agree with the prevailing sentiment 'round here that T10 doesn’t interact so well with its community, it does release weekly patches and patch notes. Except when it comes to ForzaVista; how they haven’t said a SINGLE thing about how much work needs to be done here is shocking, even by T10’s quality standards, which have sunken pretty low as of late.
But by G-d, ForzaVista is so broken, it’s nauseating. I don’t know WHAT’S going on over at T10, but they are – or should be – in some serious, SERIOUS trouble if this is the direction in which this series continues to flow.
Yes, poor lighting in the garage space! I didn’t think they’d make that mistake again after 6. 6 had 2 spaces to choose from at least, one a dim garage like this, the other a nice outdoor house on a plateau. But no, when you view the car in Vista its parked in the shade. Seeing in the cockpits was very difficult, and just even judging paint colors for the exterior was painful. I basically always had to jump into a race to judge colors I had selected because they always looked too dark in Vista.
I don’t know if it’s something obvious that I missed but I can’t seem to find the Forzavista, or at least the version of it that was present in Forza Motorsport 4, 5 and Horizon 3. All I can do is free-look around the exterior of a car in an empty garage. There’s no way to open the doors and view the interior and the like. Has this been removed or is it somewhere else?
You can access Forzavista from the main menu, My Cars menu, or the Pre-Race screen. On the Pre-Race screen, it’s press the Right Stick to access.
As for the doors and whatnot, the X button explode feature only opens certain doors and hood/trunk. On certain cars, you have to manually activate the engine cover (eg the Renault F1) or to raise and lower active aero. If a door or feature has no action symbol when you get close to that feature, then it maybnot be available for that vehicle. Some cars just have opening front doors; back doors don’t open at all. Some cars do not have an opening hood or trunk lid even though the real-life car does.
On PC on the My Cars menu there is no “Right Stick”, and despite using the Logitech G920 steering wheel I don’t see a Forzavista prompt - all I see is free look. Either that or I’m blind! The lack of Xbox buttons in PC menus is really frustrating.
In ForzaVista in Forza 5 and Forza 6, we could see details of the engine (i.e. power, torque, displacement, etc) and what gearbox the car had.
But our most favourite feature was that we could hear an explanation of the manufacturer’s history by clicking the Forza logo. Even in Horizon 3’s ForzaVista, after 15 seconds of inactivity, on some cars Warren would give us a detailed explanation of the history of the car’s manufacturer. (though not for every manufacturer)
Now, come Forza 7, when we try and see engine details in ForzaVista, all we get is some text saying ‘ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS’ and that’s it. When we click the Forza icon, we don’t get a manufacturer history explanation either.
Seriously, is Turn 10 EVER going to fix ForzaVista in Forza 7?! I really miss being able to see engine details and hear an explanation of the history of a car’s manufacturer…
I doubt at this point it will ever be fixed. It’s a shame because even though a lot of the commentary was generic, it was a nice touch. I’m really surprised this wasn’t carried over from F6 for the most part. They have all these “automotive personality’s” introducing races and such, would have been cool to hear from people associated from auto magazines and culture talking about each car.
I understand this is almost impossible with the number of cars and expansions.
How F7’s Forzavista is presented with only the name of the car, it very much looks like it was started and just forgotten or abandoned due to time. No specs, no details, no lights…seems like it wouldn’t be worth their time to do now.
I have a feeling they are beginning to get away from Forzavista moving forward with the franchise.
Yeah its unfortunate the voice over stuff wasn’t extended to 7, though in 6 it was usually the same blurb for every car by that manufacturer vs how it was specific to each car in previous games (though I never had 5).
However, I am super happy that ForzaVista has been extended to the trackside for every single track! In the Post load screen (the load screen after the track has finished loading), you can now enter Vista (albeit without the icons you can click on for camera pans, details, bodykits, etc). But this is awesome because in Forza 6 there was only 2 home screens you could use Vista in and the lighting was too dark in both of them to see interior details and gauge colors. Now you can look at cars in Vista on any track with whatever lighting the weather has at the time, much better.
