“Here it is, a world-first look at Hennessey’s Venom F5, Texas’s V8 twin-turbo hyper-thing aiming not just to go quicker than the 268mph Veyron Super Sport, but blow the pesky Bugatti into the weeds, targeting a top speed of 290mph. Perhaps even more.”
Just another kit car,V-man,i’m really tired of J.H. and just wish he would go away. Never cared much for him and his shady way of doing things. Who cares how fast it will go,not me!
I bet T10 will announce it as DLC for Forza Watersport MkIV at this year’s GamesCon. Mark my words!
Seriously though, I really hope we get to use this car sometime in future Forza games. It’d probably be quite fun to drive without TCS when I get bored… And in the real world it’s gonna give me a nice patriotic feeling knowing that the world’s fastest production car is American.
Just because several parts for it weren’t made in the US doesn’t make it foreign; it’s still built in the US (EDIT: NVM; read my latest post). The entire design of the car was made by someone at Hennessey (in the US), the majority of the parts used were likely from US manufacturers, and the entire thing was put together in the US. Therefore, it’s an American car (EDIT: Again, NVM; read my latest post).
It’d be like Lotus taking the chassis of a Corvette and then putting their own engine, drivetrain, interior, bodywork, etc. on that chassis and then having me complain that “it’s still a Corvette.” No, its chassis is from a Corvette, but everything else was from Lotus. Therefore, it’s an English car.
lol, you can say the same thing about the Illinois Chevy Caprice and Impala police cars being assembled in Australia. Also MANTEO MAX, are you hinting it will be in the game?
almost everything is made in china, (well not race cars) but chevy and ford makes most of there cars now in like canada and mexico. (although that is talking about the Nascars not world record setting cars)
Built in England = An English car
Built in Australia = An Australian car
Built in Mexico = A Mexican car
Built in Canada = A Canadian car
Built in the US = An American car
The chassis and original styling of the Venom GT was from Lotus. The Venom F5 only uses the chassis from Lotus, the rest is all Hennessey derived (EDIT: The Venom GT is assembled in England. It’s actually an English car…). And if it was put into Forza right now I can guarantee you the car will be listed as an American car. You can all stop being technical for the sake of complaining and arguing, it’s getting old. It’d be nice to find at least one thread where someone wasn’t complaining about something for the sake of complaining…
Off topic… Several GM products are just imported and rebadged Holdens anyways, so they are infact still Australian cars. But who says that’s necessarily a bad thing? Chrysler vehicles are now assembled in the US, though many of their parts come from Mexico. I haven’t kept up with Ford… NASCAR teams build all of their own cars, but I believe certain pieces for the cars (like aero parts or something of that nature) are sold to the teams by NASCAR themselves to help ensure fairness between multiple cars.
And no Ritzy, Manteo is not hinting at the car coming to Forza, he just started a thread for the discussion of the F5 in real life. The mods know nothing more about the future of Forza than we do, unfortunately.
Well, yes and no… Around a track like Leguna Seca, I can almost guarantee hypercars like the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari would smoke the F5 due to the fact that they run much more downforce and have a more reasonable level of power. The F5 would still give them a pretty good challenge, but due to the fact that it’s RWD, most of its power would be cut with TCS to try and keep it going straight. Whereas the P1 and LaFerrari could run almost all of their power the entire time. Just a general guess would be that they’d both be running at about 600-750HP under TCS, and at that point it would just come down to acceleration and mechanical and aerodynamic grip. Both the P1 and LaFerrari have more grip than the F5, but the F5 would likely have somewhat better acceleration. And if the Venom GT is anything to go by, the F5 will have phenomenal brakes, so all 3 cars would probably be tied in that area of performance.
Now, in a straight line it’s obvious the F5 will top all other production cars’ top speeds and acceleration. The One:1 may have been able to give it a go, but it runs so much downforce (I think it’s got about 1,600lbs at 100MPH?) that I can’t see it going any faster than 250MPH without removing most of its aero. That is, unless completely leveling the spoiler nearly removes all rear downforce. Even then, you’ve still got a ridiculous front splitter to deal with…
Also, after looking into it further, I’ve actually found that the Venom GT was in fact, assembled in England with the engine and several other components being shipped from the US to the English assembling facility. So, according to my own previous statements, the Venom GT is therefore an English car. My apologies to T REX 5753 and VerrucktSchakal for accusing them of being wrong. I am in fact the one who was wrong on that subject… Well, that just killed any proud feelings of the Venom GT that I previously had. : ( Hopefully the Venom F5 will actually be built in America…
Yeah, it seems like us Americans never get anything to be proud of when it comes to automotive stuff… Well, on the plus side I’m still pretty sure SSC builds their cars in America, so we’ve got the Ultimate Aero and soon, the Tuatara to cheer on. And like I mentioned, the F5 isn’t into production just yet, so there’s still a small chance that they’ll be built in America… To be honest, I’m extremely confused as to why Hennessey air-mails their powertrain all the way from Texas to Silverstone for final assembly of the car… You’d think it’d be much more cost effective just doing it here.
