How Do I Go About Making Some Designs/Skins Like The Fantasy Paint Booth ?
Easy answer? Just get in there and start experimenting!
The livery editor of the Forza games is a really powerful tool once you get a little bit of practice in, just remember it’ll take some time, so don’t feel discouraged if you aren’t making triple-A paints from the start. I look back on some of my very first cars from Forza 1 and remember how confusing it was at first. I’d recommend starting off with a bigger car with flat sides/top, (such as a Dodge Charger or something similar) so you can get used to how to move things around the car without having too many vent, grills, or weird body panels to mess with. The “Create Vinyl Group” menu is where you can go to make the decals and logos you put on the car itself out of the different shapes provided. It will let you save any groups you make to a personal “catalog” where you can apply them to any car you want. The actual base paint of the car has tons of options too, especially in the “Special Paint” tab (hitting the right bumper button will scroll though paint types). I’m sure you’ve seen how the car is broken up into panels, Right Side/Left Side/Top-Hood/Front Bumper/Rear Bumper/Wing (if applicable). Each of these has a limit to the amount of layers (counted as each individual shape) you can apply. I’d be surprised if you got very close to the limit on most paint jobs really, I barely use half on the majority of mine. Once you get the basics down it’ll get easier and easier. One very good thing to remember is pay attention to what your control instructions say at the bottom of your screen, it will tell you exactly what buttons to press to do stuff with your vinyl shapes like change color, stamp, zoom in, cut, insert, muti-select, etc.
But I think I’ve probably rambled on too long, there’s only so much you can learn from reading a page after all. I wish you the best of luck with your painting adventures, and feel free to ask any questions (even if they may seem like dumb questions) about the livery editor. I’m sure either I, or another forum member, will be more than happy to help. In parting I invite you to check out this time lapse video I made for one of my logo groups. I can understand if ponies aren’t your cup o’ tea, but it illustrates well how the shapes layer together to form the cool stuff you see on the finished cars. Enjoy!
