I’m sure a dedicated Forza Motorsport 6 tuning guide will end up on the forum eventually, but in the meantime here is a site that I have been using for quite a while as my “reference book”.
The Forza information’s specific to Forza Motorsport 4 but the principles should still apply to Forza Motorsport 6.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get the achievement, as every time a 24 player lobby started up I got disconnected. I’ll go back to Single Player for now and try again another time.
That was a great site indeed! I stumbled across it back in the early days of FM3 when I was struggling to understand tuning. They had a very active forum then and the in depth information they provided was excellent. They also posted quite a few tunes then that were very competitive. Too bad it all petered out by FM4. I was talking to the sites admin then and offered my help to revive it, but it never materialized.
If anyone is interested in some additional guidance, my bud Stella Stig has a butt load of tutorial videos on his YT channel. He has some for FM6 that I found to be very informative. Using his methods I have been able to make some very stable and competitive tunes myself. Not as good as Raceboy’s or Nasty’s or Worm’s, but I’m getting there.
This is something I have been using since Forza Motorsport 4 and in recent months have been able to make some very competitive tunes when working with it.
Here’s a screenshot for those that don’t want to download the file directly:
I respectfully disagree with the order of tuning step described. For instance I would start with tuning parameters that rarely change once you have settled with good values.
From my tuning experience I prefer the following order:
Tire pressure (initial)
Springs and Ride Height
Camber and Caster and Toe
ARBs
Diff
Damping
Tire pressure (final)
I find Damping the most challenging part for fine tuning the handling regarding grip / control and oversteer / understeer. Everything else I usually find the sweet spot pretty fast and rarely change once I settled.
