since the Update i am constantly getting grey cars in free play just done two races at daytona ovel in honda & chevy both times my car is grey all other cars have correct paint is there. a way around this??

If memory serves, this may be because of DLC cars you don’t have. But if that were the case, not sure why your car would be grey.

I have this problem too. There is a work-around.
Just before you click on START RACE, you are able to select another car. I usually select another car, then I go back and select the car I want to race. This fixes the color issue.
It’s an odd bug.

This works for me,only happened a few times mainly when i was trying to do the forzathons.

Got this one today in the #2 Castrol Honda Civic you get from one of the Showcase events. The paint was gray, but it still had all the decals. This was on a X1X
I have been having the same issue, doing races in free play for the Forzathon stuff. I select a car and then go to a race and my car would be grey and not the right color.

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. I was in Freeplay mode trying to start a Forzathon race. Another bug prevented the track from loading so I was stuck looking at my grey car on the sidelines with the driver image doing his pre-race stretching moves. I was never able to start the race so I don’t know whether or not the car would have remained grey once it lined up on the grid. I re-booted 3 times and still had the problem so I rebooted a 4th time and when into some unfinished Forza Cup events. Everything worked okay there. Freeplay mode seems to be the source of my problems. I’m on the Xbox One Slim.
thought it was x1x problem but then it happened on the pc. very weird bug. second race in the same porche and it went from grey back to yellow.
This also happens in split-screen local play.
I get this everytime in freeplay on the ONE S.
I haven’t tried any workarounds because I shouldn’t have to do any special tricks to get the game to work properly.
At least it’s not game breaking. Just a shame to spend ages looking for a nice paint, which someone had spent hours doing, to not be able to see it.

this also happends in my garage now. but only With a Paint that i have downloaded. so if i had a fmd Paint on a drfit car its now grey in my garage.
I have to download the Paint again to see it on the car. then when i go back to my garage its a 50/50 chance for it to be grey again ore the Paint stays.
man this release from T10 is really getting on my nerves… i really try hard not be negative but its almost impossible With this release and patches that creates New bugs that we havent seen before.
c’mon T10, i know you can do better!

Happening for me too. Both with stock livery race cars (Alfa P3, BMW CSL Group 5).
I get it with all race cars
had some time before my wife takes all the fun out of it, lol…
Just checked. it happends With race car With Stock livery aswell. makes no sence…
Yep, getting this too. It will display the selected color in my garage but once the race starts, it goes grey.
No way around it - you will have to ‘pray and hope’ it gets fixed. I think they might fix it cos’ it’s probably ruining the whole FM7+Xbox One-X vibe. The sounds… apparently, that’s not important in a driving game.
Got it mainly with cars using liveries.
For example, all my Halloween bash cars are now broken.

Same here it started yesterday while attempting Forzathon challenges. I’ve had this happen a few times in career mode but doing forzathon it happens every time. I actually liked some of the cars in this grey color. This might sound funny but I’m actually starting to feel sorry for T10 they can’t seem to get a handle on their code, they must be pulling their hair out (if they have any left) trying to find the problem. Might be time to bring in some new people/fixers.
