That’s not the way I understand it (from the above anyway). Two separate offers, the usual Gift message for a Peel P50 with the livery (and caveat to save the livery by upgrading the car) and the code for the livery (see above). That second is a brilliant decision as a “fix” for those who accidentally lose the livery because it doesn’t show in the preview. Now, if they’d just release/share the livery codes for all the other ones gifted during this buggy livery losing phase…
EDIT : Ah, you’re right though that the in game message is different. And I still don’t have a Gift message. Maybe there was a bug in the delivery ? Or they changed their offer ? I dunno.
For what it’s worth I submitted a support ticket about the Auction House eating the gift liveries, and most of what I got back was the usual boilerplate “Did you try restarting the game/making sure it’s updated/reinstalling?” (There is no universe in which I redownload this massive behemoth of a game.) The support person did suggest driving around in the car for a bit to see if that does anything, but I’m pretty sure I tried that the last time I bought one. The fact that the livery is getting zapped just by opening up the entry, before you even make the purchase, makes me doubt that would do anything.
i just downloaded the P50 livery and can confirm it does indeed take up a slot in the collection. as i have a livery i made that is much better imo i’ll be keeping it and deleting this “gift” livery. as a painter i need every spare slot i can get.

Head to your in-game Messages and be sure to select Download on the GIFT CAR message in the gifts tab. This will add the car to your garage for you to enjoy.
Note:
You must have enough room in your garage to download the gift.
The My Cars preview menu image may show standard paint until you save an upgrade.
Gifted car liveries can’t be restored if they are removed.
Just saw this gift drop, thanks, but… the usual save an upgrade method is not fixing the preview image issue. Any other suggestions ? It always worked before. Keep spending money on upgrades until I find one that fixes the paint ?
EDIT : OK, finally got it to stick. Maybe it was just slow to update. Or maybe it was actually LOAD the saved upgrade file instead of the usual just save it. Anyway, all good here now… but… is this EVER going to get fixed ? Is anyone even looking at it ? (crickets…)
You don’t have to save tune to get preview image to change. All you have to do is install any upgrade. After you installed part you can reset upgrades if you want to keep it stock. Remember that just adding upgrade to basket isn’t enough to trigger it.
Thanks, but, as noted, yes that used to work, this time it didn’t (for me). I’ve done it often enough, each car through 5 and many in 4. Nothing worked this time until I actually went back and loaded the saved upgraded tune.
…and fwiw, same thing in FH4 with this one. The usual method didn’t work (for me) until I loaded a saved upgraded tune to the car.
You get the car. Its not like cars are “big” prices in this game. It cost nothing, absolutely nothing for them to gift a car (it doesnt matter the rarity) everybody once every ten seconds.
