Getting AP501 error, skipping just causes the game to crash

Hi. I just installed Forza Apex for the first time today, and unfortunately it doesn’t work at all. I’m getting the AP501 error when I first load. All my GPU drivers and Windows updates are current.

I read that disabling the Intel GPU can fix it. So I went to device manager and selected disable on it, and I still get this error. I also read that holding page up and clicking quit can skip the error. If I do that, I get to the loading screen that has the car hood, and it crashes shortly after that.

I’ll attach as much dxdiag as this form will allow me to paste. Any help would be appreciated.

And maybe try it with a different resolution on your DELL monitor and / or @ 60Hz …

Well I had the game running fine, just tried it tonight and got the same error.

The game ran like a dream so I have no idea why im suddenly being told my graphics card cannot support it, which is not the case.

Thanks for the suggestions Noobetrson. I can’t speak for others having similar issues, but I managed to figure out my problem. Windows had set 3D Display Mode to On, and that was causing Forza to crash.

The long version is I originally didn’t have the November Windows Update (v1511) and couldn’t download Forza. Apparently while installing the update, Windows changed my display settings unbeknownst to me.

I’m still getting the AP501 message when I start Forza, but the Page Up + Quit method gets me in the game, and I’m off to the races. Loving what I’m seeing so far. It looks great on my 1440p monitor with all the settings cranked. Can’t wait to see what else Turn 10 has up its sleeve.
