Something I’ve really missed in recent games is a real launch control, I know FH3 has a dodgy one with the clutch but it does not work on a wheel, I was thinking like a specific setting to apply a rev limiter (e.g 4000rpm) in order to get a great launch.
This is also something that is very fashionable with recent sports cars and would add a sense of modern thinking to the game.
Anyone else interested in this?

Personally, as long as we can use the clutch manually on a wheel/pedal set up that would be enough for me. In the real world many modern sports cars (that abandon the clutch pedal) have their own launch control systems, but I kind of feel that is cheating a bit. The car is doing all the work instead of the driver so it’s no longer about skill.

I agree lillaly.
It would be a nice easy add for them. As long as it’s not forced (as in, you can still rev to redline in neutral if you wanted to) and you could turn it off/on.

To be honest, I see this more as something that would suit Horizon series games. Let me explain…
The Motorsport series means that realistically, you only start a race once - that is, you get a countdown on the grid, and you’re off. LC wouldn’t be useful apart from that one time, so is it worth them implementing it? Granted, it would give people faster launches, but I don’t personally think it’s anything that’s absolutely necessary.
In the Horizon series, however, you find people stop more and create impromptu races between eachother. That is where I think it could come in handy. The ability to push a button and get the ideal launch is great. Then you have the issue of button mapping (or the lack of button available to dedicate). I would have it that when at a stand still, holding the handbrake and the accelerator would prime the vehicle to have the perfect launch, instead of pointlessly revving (which can be done using the trigger brake, or the clutch button for manual with clutch users.)

The main problem I have with launch control in a motorsport game would be, how would it factor in terms of PI? It would be very unrealistic for cars that don’t have launch control to have it and if a car does have it how would it differ in PI rating as it’s such a big advantage in track position but serves no advantage in lap times. Would there be an option in the upgrades to install it? How would it work? There’s too many questions.

For me launch control is the same basic principle as a trans brake in drag racing. Yet again, another argument for throwing in some drag racing upgrades!
I agree it’s probably only suited for the Horizon series except for specifically drag racing in motorsport, I’m still crossing my fingers that drag is at least better than 6 was.
Back to my point, launch control would be cool as a tunable upgrade, set how hard the launch is based on how you want to launch, lol. That sounded really dumb, but you know what I mean.
Then again, with the PI system in the last couple of games, it would probably make D class become an S class. I hope that business has been fixed.

Interesting points peeps!
It is very true that it’s more suited for Horizon games, the reason that it’s such a sought after feature for me is due to the free-drive aspect, either with friends or in hot-lapping on your own.
And it also makes such a great sound, a good friend of mine drives an R8 V10 plus -13 and it’s such an experience to use launch control!
Launch control is generally not actually useful for racing, because races have a slightly randomised start and most launch control systems rely on specific timed sequences of actions they can’t just hold forever.
