G920 pulling hard to the left on PC

I just realised that my search for this issue found a thread in the Apex forum, so I wanted to repost it here in the hope it will be spotted more easily.

I’ve been having this issue (wheel rotating fully and strongly to the left by itself) on PC with my G920 on the final game. So far it only seems to happen after/during a rewind, and it can be temporarily resolved by unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in, but it will happen several times within a single race which makes it unplayable with the wheel. I can’t find any suggestions on how to resolve this other than what I’ve already tried (updating drivers, trying a different USB port.)

Basic PC specs:

Windows 10 (fully updated)
i7 4770k (stock)
GTX 1070 (drivers up to date)
16GB DDR3
Running from an SSD
G920 (updated)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I had this issue on previous games, this is what I did and its not happened since.

  1. Make sure you are using a USB 3.0 Port
  2. Make sure the Logitech software is running
  3. Remove any usb devices i.e USB Memory or Dongles (obviously leave M&K connected)

Hope this helps

Thanks very much for your response. Unfortunately it won’t be a practical solution for me due to the nature of my setup - my G920 is in a different room from my PC, used on a TV connected via an HDMI cable in the walls, and controlled from a USB 2.0 extension also in the walls. The room with the PC itself unfortunately doesn’t have space for the wheel on my Playseat. I also have a lot of USB devices connected at any one time in three different rooms, and disconnecting them to use the G920 (when it hasn’t had this issue on any other games) would be a pain :frowning:

I can of course have the Logitech software running but that was true when I had the problems.

Thanks again, I’ll probably just have to stick with a controller for now.

Ahhh I see, you didn’t say you were using the a USB extension in the walls. This may be your issue, USB extensions can be funny at times.
You will need to look into Active USB Extensions. USB cables greater than 5m need them

In the meantime, have you tried just hooking up your wheel directly to your PC to eliminate the extension? For test purposes

Thanks again. The extension is an active one and the wheel has performed without issues with these same connections on other games until now. I will try connecting directly as a test though.

I was able to try it on my Xbox as well, but it had a different issue where it seemed to be pulling to the right, although not as strongly as on the PC. All a little frustrating! More troubleshooting needed.

One benefit of currently being forced to use a controller is that I can enjoy it at 4K, as the screen in the room with my PC is my only 4K display at the moment - silver lining!

I’m out of ideas then
The only thing I could think of, is the wheel firmware but you said you have already done it.

HAPPY TROUBLESHOOTING

I think I found the solution. After reinstall drivers, cleaning up device manager by removing all xbox controller and g920 devices, it did not fix the issue.

I went into FM7 advance option under wheel settings, I had to zero out all these settings, then save it, go back into these settings and re-enter to the values i need. All of a sudden the tension on the wheel released and no more pull to the left
However, when the game is starting up and during the hourglass loading it will still pull left. Once the game is in menu, tension on wheel is released ans back to normal.

invert ffb - off
use gamepad steering filters - off

PS: it could be just one of these setting that was causing the issue and needed reset, but I don’t have the time and just zero out everything.
