I like to run long races with full damage. So why won’t anyone join my lobby if there’s 8 or more laps and if I increase the lap count with the person that just won still in the lobby. They’ll back out like their house was on fire.
There’s still people that have not learned to play with manual. The controller is not too easy to race with for beginners or casual players.
I don’t like to race with Simultation damage either because one small bump with another car or hitting a wall can damage your car enough to make it useless.
I use the Microsoft racing wheel and when I use non ABS brakes, my brakes can lock up with a small input on the brake pedal. On hairpins, if I slow down too much my motor will stop for a second until I can get back on the throttle a little.
So, if you want more people to race with you, you may have to be a little more considerate of their racing ability.
You should try racing in some racing leagues, where there are plenty of racers that race without assists.
Happy Racing!
I’ll start being more considerate when the majority of people on live does the same. Way back when I started gaming on live I saw things differently.
What class cars you running KOGA?
I believe he’s running R2 almost exclusively. I raced with him once and got my doors blown off. In terms of lap count, I think a lot of it has to do with how much available time you have. During the week when I come home from work I have very little time to get in game. So little so that going online for racing is a prohibitive use of my small time available using it sitting in lobbies and the like. If the lap count were to go to 10 laps, 20 laps or more and I don’t have the time, I wouldn’t be down for that race. Also, I just purchased the 360 console in May and initially as a secondary system, but have been hooked on Forza. I am not confident enough in my manual shift ability (especially with clutch) to play that way online yet. At the moment I’m still learning how to effectively pilot my cars around each track and learn how the systems function. I also use brake line on to prevent any really horrific mistakes. So in short, I believe assists should be up to the player, and that the truly fast racers will be faster without them so there really is no reason to restrict anyone from how they would like to run.

Like K said I do run R2 now almost all the time. I’m getting into R3 online . My biggest issue with some players is there need to win. Leave winning to chance. Here’s the thing about manual shifting when used correctly and not forcing it will help your lap time but not as much as used incorrectly with damage off you can shift beyond it’s limits thus shaving seconds off your laps. I was racing one player who used manual and was able to pull off an impressive lap time but that lap killed his tranny and engine thus killing the race for him.
Here’s the trick everyone using manual w/ clutch uses… Go to your controller options and select the option to swap the clutch and e-brake. This way, if you need to shift, you simply fat-thumb two buttons at once. Press A+B to upshift and A+X to downshift. Forza doesn’t make you let off the gas, either. Simply power through your shifts and let it rev while the clutch is open. You will not damage your car whatsoever (even though it will show clutch damage on a replay), and you’ll be on the gas in the next gear as fast as physically possible.
