Fuel Economy

Having nothing better to do today, I set up a private lobby with Drivatars on Le Man’s Circuit de La Sarthe (chicane version) for 31 laps, with the McLaren P1. I didn’t know how many laps I could go without needing to pit for gas, so I wanted to find out-much more fun this way than going around an oval.

31 laps x 8.48 miles of track ~263 miles.

I was able to go 13 full laps before I had to pit.

13 x 8.48=110.24 miles.

I didn’t have race tires on, which probably lowered my MPG considerably, but I was surprised at how quickly you can run out of gas.
Also, (and this may sound silly) but does anyone think that if a car is a hybrid, it should be able to run on the electric battery by itself when you run out of gas in game?

I would think 110 miles is pretty good considering how many time you went form 0-200 mph in 13 laps, and the P1 can run 10+km on all electric IRL but not in the game.

I did 48 laps at Spa without running out of gas (90%). With a 5.7l V12 Lamborghini Diablo on slick tyres. By lap 48, front and rear tyre had 100% wear. That’s 336km.

Your race tires probably helped on the fuel mileage-I was running stock tires, which were surprisingly gripping even at 50% wear.

I tried to stretch out the fuel a bit more, but I ran out on lap 28…

Thanks for the tip as I still don’t have that badge.
Plus, I need a lot of practice on that track.

I like LeMans but doing 28 laps on it so i run out of fuel that mite be a civic si or track toy job this month for the new monthly achievements.

Thanks for posting how much you need to do. always wanted to know. just never wanted to do it

I wonder if using some old big block muscle would make you run out of gas quicker?

Should do, Dont old school muscle cars have insanely bad MPG like between 3-10?

The vast majority of the cars driven hard will give single figure mpg. My Mazda 3, if the fuel computer is anything to go by, gets down to 5 mpg under hard acceleration. The Veyron, if the game was accurate, would run out of fuel after 20 miles???can’t remember exact?? at top speed.

I did this on Forza 3 with the Test Track oval. I used a Civic, a Viper, and a Veyron, the Civic and Viper ran out of gas at the EXACT same place, the Veyron made it about half a lap farther. The Veyron I had to let off of the gas to get through the turns where the Civic and Viper I could keep full throttle the entire time.

So in that game the only thing that determined gas mileage was how much throttle you were using, In the endurance races I would actually half throttle the cars once I got out ahead to increase gas mileage. I don’t now if T10 has changed the gas mileage calculations yet.

they have. if you wanna run out of gas fasst use the ariel atom. it’ll do about 32 laps on the indy oval. the chevy indy car did 92 laps without running out. i ran the tires off before running out of gas. and with 99% tire wear you dont even have enough grip to get back on the track, you slide down the banking in the turn and are just stuck there. and if you go fast enough to not slide down you slide into the wall then slide down.
