Frustrating......

I’ve been trying to find time to finally start this game, and when I did, all I found was frustration. I find the entire menu system unbearably annoying to navigate in general. I REALLY don’t like being forced into the campaign to unlock cars I want because no matter how hard you guys try your campaign is boring and annoying to play. While I like the idea of homologation I feel like it’s implementation is spotty at best. Why is there not a place I can go to reference all of the restrictions in all classes and categories? Why do I need to be in a “cup race” to see any of this information in order to tune a car for it? Why is there not a section in upgrades where I can select different homologation information so I can tune one car for multiple race categories instead of waiting to hit a roadblock? The current hopper lobby selection is too limited for homologation. Also…where are the searchable private lobbies?

So far I am not impressed guys.

As far as I’ve seen, cars can only belong to a single division. And their restrictions are given even when you go to Upgrades from the main menu.

The thought of unlocking cars from the campaign is a joke. You will get 1 from each cup (12 cups, 6 normal, 6 elite) and 1 from completing them all. And then you have the showcase events. That’s it. So everyone blaming that they are forced to play the campaign, doesn’t know what they are talking about. And yes, I can say this because I completed every campaign race about a week ago.

And the ones you unlock with Showcases… But still a small number relatively speaking.

Edit: missed an unnumbered “and then”. Need coffee. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I like going thru the champ series using the different cars and classes etc. While I have purchased quite a few cars I have earned a lot by level up and those unlocked at end of each section. I have done the first 2 endurance in order to complete the full section and probably another 4 hours I will have to find something else to do while I wait for the patches. I have no intention of racing 81 laps and above endurance races with the screen still stuttering or the crash on last few laps but other than that I have found this to be a positive part of the game.

I don’t get these complaints.

The only way to make everything unlocked from the start is to remove the credits system, which is a bad idea because Forza is not Project CARS. Let’s take Horizon 3 prices for example, a Ferrari 250 GTO is 10 million, it’s possible to buy it quickly if you’re going for just this car, but the game is so huge that I find it not very enjoyable to fixate yourself on one or two cars. The hefty price tag means it’s not available from the start, you have to work for it and drive “things you don’t like” to earn enough cash to buy it.

This is some sort of “Netflix” mentality where people remain in their own bubble and only watch what they want and/or what the service recommends to them, which is not very fun. Expanding your horizons is good sometimes.

Great analogy.

Imagine with Netflix if you had to spend hours watching shows you can’t stand before they let your watch the show you actually wanted to watch.

I’m quite sure any sane person would then just stop using Netflix, and find something else to watch movies from.

It is kind of hard to do in the game when the homologation system is set to where you cannot tune the car. Even if you manually homologate the upgrades to fit into the parameters, it will not let you use it in the Rivals. No sir… Turn 10 has gone backwards not fowards.

Yup I hate that these 100 or so cars are locked. I just want to race in free play and earn money to buy cars I want. Now I’m forced to play the career mode to unlock all ththe cars. And on top of that I can’t go away for more than a few days because I might miss a rivals mode, specialty dealer sale or Forzathon event that offers the only chance to get one of these locked cars. I actually liked the tiered collection, but all 700+ cars should be available to be purchased once you hit tier 5. I’m fine with them being available to be won instead of buying them, but at least give players the option to outright buy them.

Knowing Turn 10 and the way the game has been designed I wouldn’t count on any of these cars ever being unlocked to be purchased in the regular dealer.

Most of the unlocks are not from career, they are from the specialty dealer and future Forzathons. A guide for when and how the career cars unlock could be useful. So there are three showcase cars per championship level? That would make 18 cars unlocked by the career plus the FE reward cars.

Although your not completely accurate on the upgrade restrictions not being displayed outside of the cup. I agree the entire game is incredibly annoying and frustrating to use, graphically it’s lacking on every part from it’s predecessor. The UI is absolutly clonky and choppy to use whilst also having dropped simple features like test driving. The homologation system is annoying and gets in the way of playing de campaign the way you would want. The AI’s performance is incredibly inconsistent, on top of that the number of bugs have never been this extreme…

I finally did see that they had locked the cars to sets of homologation, but I find that even MORE frustrating. One of the main things I enjoyed about Forza was tuning and I feel like this guts large amounts of creativity I would have in a build. If there were homologation races and the usual class system from the past I would have found that acceptable as I do like the idea of homologation. But there is only a few online homologation lobbies and what…2 free tune lobbies?

As a general response to being forced to play the campaign to unlock cars. Yeah, there are only 18 but the number I would have to unlock is not my issue. The issue is there are cars in the campaign that I want that can only be had through the campaign with no other option. [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D]. If I wanted that I would have gotten Horizon.

News Flash! It’s a game… games have rules. The rules are simple, play the game to win the prizes.
