From Xbox to PS5 - Does Horizon 5 game version matter?

I currently have FH5 on Xbox and I’m considering buying the game for PS5. What happens if I buy the standard version and link the Xbox/PS5 accounts? Do I lose possible car packs, those cars in garage etc. if I buy the standard version for PS5 or how does this work?

Yes data isn’t transferable between platforms. You’d be starting from new.

Unfortunately my friend you will have to start from scratch

Thanks for replies. So if I understood correctly, linking my PS5 to Xbox account & old saved game does basically nothing, all the FH5 progress is gone, so is possible DLCs?

Is that linking even necessary then or is it mandatory to play the game?

I bought the game on PS5 after playing it on Xbox and yeah you do start again fresh though when you’re doing bonus boards it remembers your progress from Xbox even though you are still doing it all again. Maybe things like leaderboards are saved as well across platforms, I’m not sure.

Thanks. DLCs can be bought and I don’t mind doing races again, I’m mostly worried about some cars which seems to be in some cases more than difficult to get at later date. Some you may find backstage or auctioned at ridiculous prices and others not at all anymore from what I’ve read (unless the seasonal rewards start from day 1 too when you buy the game for PS5).

It might be because I pre-ordered the premium edition but I started with maybe like 5 backstage passes and a few thousand forzathon points I spent on more passes. But yeah same rules will apply here with the fomo cars. If they’re not backstage then you’ve either gotta wait for them to appear in the festival or try your luck in the auction house. There’s so many cars now though that I don’t think it really matters but I can understand if you’re after a specific car or just want to collect them all.
