FPS drops after Update Nov.3 (PC)

Hi,
every first race after boot up runs smooth at 60fps but after that… the menu and every other race is stuttering. Prague has low FPS too, even as first race. CTD’s are back too. So disappointing.

Specs:
i5 4400
GTX 970
16 GB RAM

Since the nov update I can no longer use supersampling or 8x msaa, I’ve knocked it down to 4x msaa at 1080p, system requirements seem to have been bumped, it’s linked with the new Ultra car detail setting, also reports are coming in the textures have been bumped?

I52500k
Gtx 970
8gb ram

For me it turned out to be much more about msaa than about supersampling.
Turning msaa down from 8x to 4x seems enough to match the framerates I had pre-patch.
However, every few races the framerate decides to drop like crazy forcing me to restart the game.

I’m having huge frame rate issues on the Xbox One S since the latest update. It’s horrendous!!! Barely playable at times!

What am I supposed to do? Upgrade my Xbox One S internals?? Lol. What a joke!!

Haha… so funny… after a long Destiny session I tried to drive in prague again. Boot up my PC and started forza. And well… it runs wonderful smooth with 60fps (same settings). With a big smile on my face I played the game… for half a round. Then I got an CTD. And now, I have low frames again. :frowning:

If you are running the PC version with V-sync turned on, set the framerate to ‘unlocked’. I had stuttering at lime rock, and according to the new FPS counter; my framerate was dropping to 54fps every few moments. Unlocking the framerate solved the issue for me.

I am running the game on i7 7700HQ, 16gb ddr4 ram, GTX1060 6gb.
At max settings i get about 60-80 fps when its rain and lights are enabled, but with day setting most the time i barelly get above 30 fps, i feel game worked way better before latest patch.

Can someone try if they also get over twice more FPS in rainy setting with lights on? Is that normal?

Since launch I’ve had no issues whatsoever running this game at a solid 60 at 4K. Not one crash, and only the occasional upgrade shop memory leak issue. After installing the new patch I can’t finish a race without a CTD, and when it is running it runs about as consistently as Perfect Dark did on the N64. It’s Sunday, I was looking forward to getting ahead a few levels and trying the new cars out. Now I’m sitting here in the forums and extremely disappointed. What in the world happened? This game was running great until today.

Unfortunatly i have to agree with all others having the same issue. I was stable rock at 60 fps at 4k with all ultra and msaa x8. After the patch the game went crazy sometimes only 2 cores are working instead of 8. I have some serious deeps to 50s fps and the game became unplayable unenjoyable. The game was almost perfect how the heck you destroyed it?
Check the video i made and the cores usage on the upper left corner.Awaiting for a fix asap.

I’m also having the same issue with the frames… I7 6700HQ, 16gb ddr4, 960m 4gb. Before patch I was acheiving a solid 60 in races and now with the same graphic settings the frames are fluctuating from 60 down to 40… very unpleasant…

I’m also getting FPS issues on PC as described by y’all. Typically my system will start stuttering, and until I close Forza the whole PC becomes mostly unusable, lagging terribly to all inputs. This definitely arose after the Nov 3rd update. I have noticed that the “SYSTEM” task spikes to 10% when the framerates; I wonder if this has something to do with multi-core CPU affinity?

Seriously, Turn 10, do you not do testing before deploying? Updates are not typically supposed to make things worse.

Drivers are all up to date. My rig is not top-of-the-line but I can play most games at medium-to-high settings.

My specs:

Ryzen 5 1600X @ stock clock
16GB DDR4 RAM @ 3.2Ghz
MSI Mortar B350
NVidia GTX 1050 Ti 4GB

Slight update, and this may be a solution for some: I have not done thorough testing but this may present a solution. Instead of letting 'Doze assign the Forza process to any CPU, you can go into task manager and control which processors it has an “affinity” for. For my Ryzen 5 1600X, I have 12 logical CPUs; in Task Manager, I went to Details>ForzaMotorsport7.exe > Right click > Set affinity. I selected 6 of them manually and deselected the other 6. After an hour of play time I had zero stuttering and the system had no issues.

I can’t speak to this being a long-term solution, but it might be a start. I remember back in the day Need for Speed: Most Wanted could absolutely not handle multiple CPUs, so you’d force Windows to assign it to a single CPU and that would help. I’m still giving it multiple CPUs, but assigning specifics may be helping. Just a quick and easy thing for some of you to test.

+1, identical problems.

Both games ran 40-60 maxed, now they run maybe 20 since the update. It ruined BOTH games for me completely.

970, 2600k, 8GB of RAM. Obviously it’s not the system, as this very system pushed 40-60 consistently before the update.

So far I’ve paid $200AU for 2 games I can’t play. Is this the Microsoft experience?

So, 2 weeks now since I can’t play a normal race because the fps is low and not even stable. Even if I lower the settings. Will there be an update soon? It is really disappointing now.

Same performances drop here.

i7 6700k
16 Gb
gtx 1080

All maxed out
Previously the benchmark reported 121 av fps
Since 3 Niv patch 83 av fps

Very odd.

Try grabbing latest Nvidia drivers 388.31, I’ve a similar set up and they worked for me. FPS now back up to average 125 although in previous drivers I was averaging around 140 fps but hey at least it’s an improvement over your 83 av fps.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I’ve just installed Nvidia drivers 388.31 and here follow the results:

4K Dynamic rendering Ultra and all set to Dynamic, except for the framerate set to Unlimited= 88,7fps
4K Dynamic rendering Ultra and all the settings to maximum value, framerate Unlimited= 66,7 fps

Is it normal?
I repeat my setup:
i7 6700k @ 4GHz
16 Gb Ram
gtx 1080 msi armor oc
SSD Crucial mx300

Windows 10 64 bit 1703
Nvidia driver 388.31

Today I was lucky and I could drive one race without bad performance. But unluckily only this race was fine. After that i have bad performance again. Just saying.
