I have repainted my Mustang 9x, tried painting every part of it another color, reset everything to stock, saved, and then repainted it, and even bought another car, and repainted it- so far nothing has worked.
Is this a bug?
Yeah, same thing happened to me.
It’s not a bug. FH5 is a perfect game, and everything works as intended. This is a feature to make the game more fun, exciting, and to create user engagement and buzz.

TLDR:
There is a 3rd challenge for winning a road race, but for some reason that description might disappear and show the repaint one.
Full version:
it seems that the progress shown is bugged, because for a while, the 3rd challenge for me was to win a road race, but later it changed to repainting the car. I forgot about that race, so I tried to repaint the car, it did not work and then I recalled that earlier the description was different, so I went, completed the race and now it seems to work. Also have a video just in case. I hope this helps

I restarted the game repainted the car again, and then it showed as completed.

That chapter is simply bugged but it still lets you complete the whole thing (at least that’s what mine and others did). When reaching the 3rd chapter to paint the vehicle, even though I didn’t yet paint it, it still was showing as complete and would let me move onto the last chapter. Finished the last chapter and that was it. All done.

Was bugged for me earlier, came on again 6 hours later and buying a NEW car and applying paint to that and it worked! Not sure the bug was fixed in the time between playing, but worked for me!

Same Thing Is happening to me, I repainted my car 5times and it wouldn’t give me the progress. I turned the game off came back this morning and step three is complete but now it shows “Win a Road Race” Ive done 2 road races a Sprint and a Circuit neither have progressed!
