#Forzathon for the month of May

In FH3 you get four cars a month. In FM7 you get three plus one driver gear. That’s pretty equal.

The problem is that the concept works much better for Horizon. In FH3 you’re starved of cash and the Forzathon prizes help boost your bank. Level progression is also more important in FH3 because it’s more difficult to level up and you’re granted a wheelspin every time your level is increased. Finally, the very existence of wheelspins themselves means it’s too easy for Playground to add challenges that give them, which can be quite annoying when they don’t go your way (which is often, might I add).

I maintain the original concept of multiple challenges is better. I had a lot of fun figuring out the quickest route to complete all of the March challenges. But the fanbase is oversensitive and wants to win cars while putting in minimal effort, so we ended up with these shallow events.

Or perhaps we just want the content that was advertised to be available to us properly from launch, to be, well, properly available to us without needing to jump through hoops.

If the problem with the unicorns is the fact they were on the official car list from launch as opposed to Horizon 3’s unicorns, then the people who complain about such practices probably should rethink what they truly want. Because I’ve seen it mentioned here that the “difference” in Playground’s favor was that they would not announce an unicorn until its introduction to the game, whereas Turn 10 had the cars from the get-go, but locked.

Exact same thing in both games, except Playground applied a shinier coat to their own unicorns, to the point they tied progression in the game to certain Forzathon events (impossible to get 100% without the exclusive Barn Finds).

The point I’m trying to make is simple: I would prefer a game without locked cars but, now that we have them, might as well make the most out of the situation and make it a fun experience rather than a trivial affair. All challenges can be cheesed anyway, except drift which requires a little more effort. No point in crying over spilt milk.

For me, the problem is more the achievement for collecting 700 cars. I know you can buy duplicates of cheap cars, but to me that is cheating, I want to achieve it properly, by collecting 700 different cars. I currently have 649 cars, with 9 unlocked cars remaining, so that’s 658. Okay, I haven’t fully completed all of the Driver’s Cup levels, so I think that would get me 3 more cars, but there’s still a huge gap to 700 cars, and the game has been out for quite a long time now. It’s just annoying to have to keep an eye on all these time limited opportunities to acquire locked cars, I’d rather have challenges built into the game that I can have a go at whenever I want, like how the Horizon PR stunts have pre-defined standards to achieve them. So you could be required to beat a given lap time for a particular car and track combination to unlock a particular car, and that could be pre-defined when the game ships, so you can do it whenever you want, so if you wanted to play it all day every day to unlock every car early on you could do, or on the other hand, you could take your time and not unlock them all till 5 years from now if that is how you prefer to play the game.

Or at the very least for the hoops to be reasonable and always available to be done in our own time.

Bingo. Having them behind reaching a point in the career is reasonable. The showcase events are a good example.

Amazing idea!

Then you alienate the people who mostly play online and don’t like career mode. How cool is that?

I’ve been taking part in the HLC and there are quite a few players who don’t have some of the bonus cars because they didn’t bother with career. Sure, they could always source one from the AH… And believe me, some of them actually tried, but cars such as those are becoming scarce in the AH.

There’s no better unlocking system. Getting a car in a quick Forzathon is much better than wasting 3 hours at Sebring in a quite unwieldy car against a field of AI which are particularly skilled at this specific track. But it’s also more boring.

However, it’s nice to have a goal in the game to strive towards, and the career mode in FM7 is pretty great.

Besides, you can easily cheese the Forzathons, especially FM7’s ones. No use complaining about their assumed “difficulty”. You don’t have to do 20-lap races to beat a challenge, even though I’d prefer them to do it. You’re supposed to earn the cars, that’s why it’s called a “challenge”, and they give you a full month for that. Leave the easy challenges to Horizon.

Except Forzathon’s are limited time, and only available when T10 says so. Career unlockables are available at any time, and can be earned at whatever pace you desire.

Miss out on a Forzathon event and you may never be able to get that car again. Miss out on a career unlockable? Not possible unless you don’t play that side of the game. And even then, you can still go and play through it to unlock it.

Make the Forzathon events available to do at any time and so they don’t expire. Or make them become available at set times, but they don’t expire. That would be a fantastic way to do it in my eyes.

Here’s a rough idea;

October rolls around, and with it the first set of Forzathon events. These events remain available for, well, eternity. Miss out on doing these during that month and November comes with some new events.

To move onto those events you would need to finish the October ones first before moving onto the November ones. Sort of like when you save the level-up rewards, to get to the next saved one, you’d need to decide what to do with the prior one.

Sure there are. Any number of them, really. If we agree that the Forzathon challenges themselves are okay, then a better system immediately presents itself: having all of them available to do from the start rather than being beholden to Turn10’s schedule.

I’ve been wanting the 13’ Dart for awhile, ideally not the FE but I’ll take what I can get.

Same but unfortunately we missed our chance to get it. It was a reward for participating in the FRC Rivals from April 16-18. Now our only chance to get it is through livery and photo contests. :sleepy:

its a shame i already have the fill 'er up suit

These events are so drawn out man. Come on, an entire month to do 4 “challenges”? It probably takes 20 minutes at most, just like this month’s.

The menu countdown clock shows these challenges going active at 10am Pacific today.

Good, just need one more car to get to collector level 44.

All popped nicely, but what a sad Forzathon, all done in 15 minutes…

Yep all worked correctly but a bit sad not to see multiple challenges mabey next time now that it is working so well. Make it a bit more fun and a few extra hoops, :grinning::yum:

Took me 18 minutes, I am getting old it seems.
Still do not understand why this is not a weekly event.

If they don’t want to do multiple tiers because it maybe broken why not add i don’t know 8? 4 for 33 days is just silly. They can add credits and badges for some if they don’t want to give away a bunch of cars. I mean it’s not like there aren’t tons of locked cars or nothing still… come on guys!

Only took 8 months but this Forzathon actually worked perfectly.
