#ForzaMonthly and E3 links, news, livestream schedules

E3 is almost here! Forza has tweeted some livestream dates for next week including Sunday’s E3 Briefing and the next episode of #ForzaMonthly on Monday. Below are additional links and times for both official Forza streams as well as related Xbox schedules which may feature Forza segments or news.

Work in progress - look for updates from the Forza Week in Review (typically published around 4pm Pacific) and from Xbox and others linked below. I’ll be adding these to www.bit.ly/ForzaCalendars throughout the weekend and next week.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

  • #XboxE3 Briefing - Forza has typically been featured on stage within the first 30 minutes but there’s no announced sequence, so be sure to catch the entire 90-120 minute show. The Briefing may also reveal details about upcoming Xbox hardware and features like Xbox Game Pass or other tech of interest to Forza players.
  • Giveaways - While you can watch the E3 Briefing on just about any channel, Mixer/Xbox will have a MixPot of rewards if you watch there while signed in. There may be segments throughout each day where other giveaways are offered to various viewer chats. E3 attendees in the past have been able to pick up DLC codes and Forza pins.
  • DLC? - We know that FH4 Expansion 2 is expected “in the first half of 2019” but we don’t yet have any details beyond that yet.
  • Discounts - If you don’t already own FH4 or the Car Pass, Xbox Deals has up to 50% discounts from June 7-17. See also majornelson.com
  • Merchandise - E3 attendees and online shoppers can pick up Xbox and Forza collection shirts and hats at the official Xbox Gear store. https://gear.xbox.com
  • Press - IGN and others in the past have published significant Forza reveal articles and interviews on the day of the briefing. Also look for specific press channel live interviews and demos from their E3 stages throughout the week as a possible source of Forza news.
  • Nearby in L.A. - Xbox has an entire Xbox Plaza outside the official E3 site, and the nearby Petersen Museum has hosted Forza events in the past.

If you spot an article or interview or tweet that hasn’t been posted here, feel free to add it. For best practices and the sake of reducing duplicates, if an article links to a full source, post the source instead of various articles referencing the source.

Please add as much link and time information as you can to reduce vague “Someone said…” info; good info is important to the community!

June 9: Expansion 2 announced during the Xbox E3 Briefing

Unlike the previous Xbox One era briefings, where Forza had a spot in the first half hour, this time it was over an hour before Forza appeared. Ralph was on stage with a full size McLaren Senna made out of nearly half a million LEGO parts.

Here is the full gameplay demo from E3, courtesy of Xbox Live Fr:

The file is downloading for me, it's 5,30 GB on PC.

Note, the footage shown is B-roll available to everyone from news.xbox.com, so it’s the same content going up on every YouTube channel right now. The next phase of insights might come from the ForzaMonthly livestream and any press & dev sessions with Q&A while playing the demo.

I posted that one because it had 4K and everything.

The 2019 LEGO Speed Champions McLaren Senna is rated S2 978 and has higher speed (8.7), acceleration (9.3) and launch (10) than the real life version, which is rated S2 977.

The 1987 LEGO Speed Champions Ferrari F40 Competizione is rated S2 973 and has lower speed (8.0), but higher acceleration (8.7) and launch (7.1) than the real life version, which is rated S2 961.

So these two LEGO cars aren’t simply the regular car with a different skin.

The 1967 LEGO Speed Champions MINI Cooper S Rally is a S1 831 Rally Monster with all-wheel drive, a 8-speed gearbox, 6.4 speed, 8.1 handling, 8.8 acceleration, 10 launch and 8.3 braking, it’s a completely different car from the barn find 60s MINI.

Giant Bomb @Nite from E3

Giant Bomb ran hours of dev panels discussing their work and the industry. Mike Brown from Playground Games was part of a group with The Coalition and Microsoft devs starting at 1hr7 minutes for about a 20 minute discussion.

So you don’t start with the LEGO cars, you have to earn them, and again confirmation that the barn find is a fourth car.

In the second part of our LEGO Speed Champions “Building an Expansion” Series, Mike Brown, Principal Game Designer at Playground Games continues his behind the scenes look at the creation of the Forza Horizon 4 LEGO Speed Champions expansion, this time making a detour at LEGO Land in Billund, Denmark where he’s joined by Chris Stamp, Speed Champions Design Lead for the LEGO Group.

Live from E3 - Day 2

Forza is live throughout the day showing Microsoft Theatre visitors playing the Speed Champions demo.

LEGO cars can be mechanically upgraded as usual, and also according to the available parts included in the LEGO kit, for instance the F40 Competizione comes with race parts and street parts, painting will be authentic to the usual LEGO brick colors (yellow, blue…) and vinyls become stickers you put on the blocks just like you do with LEGO (source)

Once again it is stated that there are 3 LEGO Speed Champions cars, there is no confirmation of further cars beyond a fourth one, a Barn Find they can’t talk about yet (source)
