Forza trolling

The fm4 community wasn’t that bad. Except when I got routinely kicked for drifting R class cars, but that was somewhat understandable. No one ever gets kicked in fm5. So the trolls have got free reign to do as they please. Why no one gets kicked is beyond me. It’s most likely because majority of the players are noobs or just don’t care. Either way fm5 community sucks.

Bigfoot, while understanding your frustration first hand posts like that will see you out the door here. Please don’t do it again.

My friend bought an XBox One for his kids, Forza 5 was bundled with it. His kids have a lot of fun playing “demo derby” online. They don’t know it’s a “sim racer”(according to you). There are no rules that say you can’t and Turn 10 has not seen fit to build any working provisions into the online play to restrict the game to “sim racing” only. These people paid as much money for the game as you did, why shouldn’t they play the game the way they want, even if you don’t agree with them?

If you consider yourself a Forza “expert”, you should have seen this coming and waited to purchase the game to see how things played out. Many previous Forza players have done this, of course you don’t hear from them on this forum anymore. If you don’t like the way things are going online, keep in mind what the relative few “experts” have to say to those who disagree with them on this forum: Good bye.

If your only intensions are to wreck others, your violating xbox’s rules. You can and will ban.

heres a reason…

what about when it stops everybody else in the lobby from being able to “play the game the way they want”? then it is classed as lobby trolling wether it kids or not!

there may not be the option of custom public lobbies anymore but there is the option of private online lobbies so if your friends kids enjoy crashing into eachother then your friend should learn how to setup an online private lobby for them or buy them nfs or another kids crashfest game

Actually there ARE rules against this. It is a violation of the XBox Live TOS, and you can (and people have) been PERMANENTLY banned from XBox Live (with no refund) for repeatedly violating the TOS. It is your friend’s responsibility to understand the TOS and to enforce them for anyone using his XBox. Once you get a perma-ban, the only sure way to get back online (without having the new box banned too) is to buy a brand new XBox, start a brand new gamertag, and never bring anything from your old gamertag over to the new box.

I don’t expect kids to always understand the TOS, but I do expect their parents to monitor their online activity and to understand the TOS. I don’t let any of the kids at my house (mine or others) to play online completely unattended because what they do on my box impacts me. If they cheat at a game in my house, it is my box getting banned.

Wreckers are frustrating. The reporting system could be better. However, working with what we have does help WHOLE LOT. Some wrecking is obvious. Sometimes it’s the guys that wait till corner entry and ever so slightly bump me off track but do it consistently to everyone to pass them that are hard to recognize.

This is what I do that lead to several clean racing sessions. Some, are the best races I’ve had on any Forza. Coming down to the finish line sometimes 3 wide with 1-4 on each others tail and 5-8 in a pack as well. Great stuff. Amazing replays to watch. One on Spa comes to mind where noone cut any corners (2nd set and last set).

I take note of the vehicle and or gamertag that bumped or wrecked me. After the race I click on the gamertag and block them first. Then, I hit report, type wrecker or crasher, hit b, go over to report and hit a. Back in the lobby I vote to kick. I don’t encourage anyone in the lobby to kick em as most times that makes me a target. Plus some racers are new and don’t know how to report or kick or don’t care enough to vote. I usually also have a pen or pencil and a paper. I report them every race there after if the individual is doing it to myself or someone else in more than one race. When I finish my play session I then submit a more detailed account on the name or names I wrote down.

For the most part I have good races now. Although the current system is not the best it does help. It’s easy to complain or point out deficiencies. But what’s the point in that if you are not going to take action to help solve the problem regardless of what some say is an inefficient process.

Once I reported an individual in 4 consecutive races. On the fifth a new player had joined the lobby. Each race he or she started at the back and would pull over. Three races later the wrecker was gone. The lobby stayed clean after that. Perhaps the racer pulling over was investigating the gamer. He or she never actually raced. Stayed in the lobby for a few more races and left. That was before I blocked wreckers. I would just report and keep racing. Never been in a lobby with the wrecker gamertag again.

Block, report, vote to kick. It does help.

I don’t agree that the blocking and reporting system works. I have been doing that with every blatant crasher I’ve encountered over the last 6 months. What happens now is that whenever I try to join a MP hopper, I’m placed with just one or two other drivers and that’s it. The crashers are still playing but you can’t get into a lobby they are in. There have been times when I wasn’t able to join an existing lobby and was placed in one by myself. I don’t think it works at all. Online play keeps getting worse and worse and worse. Blocking and reporting is a total waste of time. Just my opinion…

Sounds like bad luck on ur side then. I have been blocking and reporting since I started playing and have yet to have that issue.

That proves it does work.

Unfortunately not many people block and report so currently you/we are limiting our available lobbies. The more people that use the system the better it will be for everyone. I’m sure people that get blocked are also having issues when searching for lobbies.

I see it differently. It clearly isn’t working because the trolls are still playing and still doing their thing. There are no repercussions whatsoever for them. People that don’t bother with blocking the crashers are still in the lobbies with them. Many of them are the type of players I want to be in lobbies with. If the crashers get there first though, then I don’t get in to that lobby. However, if some type of action were actually taken against the crashers, I wouldn’t be ending up in lobbies with just a car or two in them. Granted, those couple of cars are usually clean racers, but that’s not what I’m looking for. To me, the whole point of MP is to race in relatively full lobbies. The only way I’m going to get that chance is to remove all the blocks I have put in place. Clean racers have to alter the way they play game and the crashers just keep going on doing the same things. Its not right…

Then I can agree to disagree with you… Somewhat. I agree there there should be consequences for the wreckers and a better way to deal with them. However, there is not one right now.

So… I will continue to use the course of action that I have been shown which is working for me because I CHOOSE to report block and vote to kick every dirty racer I encounter. Is it tedious? Yes. Is it annoying? Yes. Am I going to let wreckers ruin the game that is the ONLY reason I bought an XBox One? No.

I have had some of my best and most fun races recently in open lobbies. Its clearly working for me. Do I encounter new wreckers? Of course I do. I don’t piss n moan to let them get any satisfaction out of it. I simply block, report, vote to kick and keep it moving.

About the type of racers you want to race against being in a lobby with wreckers. Several reasons why the wrecker might be in there. One being it is a new gamertag that has not been blocked by anyone in the lobby. Another possibility is they do not block anyone for whatever reason. Severance other possibilities. If the wrecker is not gone after one or two races no one in the lobby cares enough to vote to kick em or they don’t know how to. So… Send a message. Tell em how to vote to kick. That eliminates them not knowing. The wrecker would be gone if everyone else wanted clean racing and knew how to kick. By making sure everyone knows how to kick you eliminate the possibility of them not knowing. If the wrecker is still there then the type of people you like to race against either like wreckers or don’t care about them and you shouldn’t either because that’s the type of person you want to race with so you should not be bothered by wreckers.

However, the more times you block, report, vote to kick and encourage others to do so by sending them a message the more likely it is you will end up in a lobby without wreckers and more clean racers. If a wrecker does end up in the lobby the more likely they will be voted out by people that care enough to vote.

I have and still have good races. It is due to using what we have now.

So… I say the system works. You just have to keep using it. It won’t work if you don’t give it a chance at all or don’t use it enough to have an effect.

Hope you have better races.

Whenever I encounter a wrecker(s) I save the replay, post it, and give the information to Snowowl along with blocking and reporting the person. I don’t know what’s going on on the wreckers side of things after I do this but I haven’t seen the wreckers I’ve reported ever since so it seems that it’s working. Everyone could give it a try? Kind of tedious but the reward of not having to deal with wreckers is worth it to me. I might not be the best or fastest racer in the world but I’d rather have clean lobbies and lose than a wrecker filled lobby and win because my competition got taken out of the race.

Exactly! The more that do it the more will be in a clean lobby with you.

Bottom line if you are not using the current system regardless of the improvements that could be made you are suggesting their actions are ok by not taking the available course of corrective action.

That’s why I never play racing games online unless it’s Mario Kart or if I’m with friends because of people who like to ruin other’s fun.

FM2 lobbies were by far the best. Hosting bad lobbies eventually left you hosting empty ones and trolling eventually left you in career or hot lapping.

I was racing last night in the B class no collision lobby, it astounded me that some crashers didn’t even read what they were getting in to. I’ll ramble a bit but the conversation went like this…

Troll (waiting on the start at bathhurst) -
“oh I love this first corner, and I’m so far back, you’re all gonna get knocked off mfs!”
Me and others -
“this is a non collision lobby…”
Troll -
“whatever, you all just don’t want to get knocked tha f* Ooooooout”

Race starts - troll piles through ghost cars at full pelt into the first corner wall. From here he screamed expletives and then turned to drive backwards through the track. We met him again at the top of the course where I was leading. He aimed straight at me and I just drove through him:
Troll
“ok what the f*, that skyline dude and all of you are cheating, how can anyone win if you can’t push you out of the way?”
Me
“I’m not cheating, it’s a non collision lobby, if you want to win, then you have to actually race”
Troll
“fine, this game is so busted you can just drive through cars, I’m not playing anymore, this is going back to gamestop”

He left…

I think I just got rid of one…
