The state of multiplayer can be summed up in three words: it barely exists
Six multiplayer hoppers and Rivals was gutted.

I just had 3 races in a Rise of the Supercar lobby.
3 very SHORT and NARROW versions of Rio, Long Beach and Top Gear. It was just HORRIBLE.
Why do these tracks even exist in this category? To make us angry? If you’re in first place you’ll soon catch the backmarkers and they’re not ghosted. You can imagine the crashes in 10-15 laps.
Even in Track Toys you’ll get these kart sized versions of tracks that you do 80 laps on when you get popped by the blue shell (backmarker), probably killing your race.
Ahoy there!
Every multiplayer lobby I have joined has been a Demolition derby/ a huge waste of time.
They need to add ghost lobbies.
Great idea for a thread PJ - thank you for putting it together.
I’m currently on holiday but plan to dive into the hoppers when i get back and will certainly post my experiences here.
On a side note - this driver feedback tool - are you able to view your rating at all?
As of right now you cannot.
According to Brian Ekberg (via last Friday’s stream) each player has a profile that Turn 10 can access, where they can see patterns in reporting. They can also likely compare them to race results and other data that the game records in the background, such as maximum G-Force etc. If they see enough evidence that somebody is consistently causing trouble in Multiplayer, I believe they’ll step in.
Brian said they’re not discussing the details of this right now, but may have more to say when Leagues are released.
My only advice is to use it whenever you’re in the Hoppers, to help Turn 10 in building profiles on players. Don’t be afraid to compliment the good drivers too. Maybe I have been lucky so far but I’ve been giving out as many “Good Driver” ratings as I have “Bad Driver” ones.
Today was Absolute Hell for multiplayer. I’m to the point I am going to drive off the side and wait for last to do laps for the achievements If not for disconnects randomly when it says my internet has no problems, lag from others or getting smashed from behind at the start, i see epic pileups where instead of avoiding people just absolutely reel you in to smash you to pieces. If you happen to pass someone cleanly it’s taken as an attack and attempts to hit you.
They need private lobbies with AI badly and ghost ones. I’m grinding out laps just to be done with it, I hate it. For all the times i’ve accidentally hit someone ive been steam rolled 20 more. I’m tired of playing nice, I just want the achievements done. And thanks to no damn A.I. In lobbies what so ever grinding it out is all I can do. I just want a private lobby with bare minimum forza 6 options.
It’s absolutely incredible to me that T10 did nothing to address the lapped car situation. How easy would it have been to ghost someone who has been lapped?
Now we will have to contend with all the children and grown ups with the mentality of a child who think it’s funny to sit back and wreck leaders. No amount of bad feedback or reporting is going to fix this issue. But taking away their ability to do so would have been such an easy. And much requested fix. SMH…
If this were a more serious game with longer races I wouldn’t want any ghosting. But given the relatively casual nature of the game combined with the super short races… yeah, I can’t believe they haven’t ghosted cars as the leader closes in on them and goes to lap them.
My main gripe with multiplayer so far has been the server lag (little messages keep popping up in top right corner) causing some rubber banding during races - pretty much all my contact with other cars has been because of this- and one instance of the pole car getting a head start by being able to start the race while the rest of us had to wait for the 3 second count down timer to start (he started just before the start timer popped up on screen) unsure if this is a new glitch/cheat in the game or just a random cock up.
The usual morons griefing and taking people out still happens, it’s just more pronounced as there aren’t too many players to water the numbers down yet but getting into a decent lobby hasn’t been too hard either.
Physics side, pretty normal FM6 ish with some weird collision detection and some times comically over the top “rubbing on a straight ends up rolling both cars” moments which are amusing and concerning in equal measures but again are fe and far between.
Can confirm this is not a cheat but random hiccup. My Xbox One runs via wi-fi and my signal is poor (I disconnect before finishing 75% of races) and about 1 in 3 races I get a 2-5 second headstart. I get round the first corner and then hold back until I only have a 50ft advantage.
can not play in the public lobby quietly,
difficult to make dubbed ghosts ??
Hard to make cars arriving at high speed to hit ghosts ??
The barriers put in to avoid cuts are unwatchable, difficult to put penalties ??
For desperation now playing only in private lobby with friends
I would add that lobbyists should have a maximum of 16 players
1 of the best things t10 did on fm6 to help ease the complete chaos that is online racing was to have fastest lap grid ordering. This has been tossed to the way side in favour of random grid ordering.
I beg for the sanity of all online racers please bring this back. It’s the only way ppl of equal abilty can race together since match making has not been improved at all
Who else thinks this is the way online grids should be sorted?
Whole heartedly agree
I like the fact it gives people an incentive to stay clean in every race too, something satisfying starting the first race at the back and moving up the grid order in the next race too.
Random grid order is the main reason I’m staying away from MP for now. It just aid to further chaos.
It was one of the best features implemented on FM6 and i am saddened that it hasn’t remained this way on FM7.We all know how chaotic first lap are,at least with this feature enabled,it eliminates a big chunk of first corner accidents.Really hoping it comes back very soon.
Ah so I’m not the only one noticing the absurd random grid order!
First thing I spotted too. For Forza Motorsport 6 I remember asking RBW Triton to make the change and it got done fairly quickly. Hopefully when the new Hoppers go up soon they will make this change.
I’d also like to see Rolling Starts.
Let’s hope they fix!
I’m slow. I deserve to be at the back. I NEED to be at the back because although I race clean I get nervous holding up the better players.
What does it matter when races are only two laps long? I tried one race of two lap bumper cars and then quit. You spent more time in intermission and waiting for things to load than racing. Waste of time.
