Today we released the first content update (CU) for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex. This CU includes a number of improvements to the game, including the following:
Players can now disable Vsync in Apex (NOTE: This feature requires upgrading to a specific version of Windows 10 [OS Build 10586.318]). To disable Vsync:
Ensure you are on the correct Windows Build 10586.318
Select your desired performance from the Performance Target screen:
Ensure you application matches your screen resolution settings. The easiest way to do this is set the “Force Resolution” video option to OFF, which will automatically match your game resolution to your native resolution.
Ensure your application is running in a full screen mode (no borders / task tray). You can toggle full screen mode by pressing the Alt + Enter keys.
[NOTE: As of this update, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex is still capped at a maximum frame rate of 60fps. The team is investigating adding support for higher framerates in a future update.]*
Other changes in this CU include:
Stability and performance updates spanning a number of machine configurations, with specific focus on AMD devices
Gameplay/objective modifications to a handful of events in both the Showcase Tour and Spotlight Series
Improved integration between Apex and Forza Hub, as well as improved redemption flow for the free Nissan GT-R bonus car
Additional UI fixes and general improvements, including: Expiration times for Spotlight Series events are now shown in local time; "New” UI designation now only applies to events that are actually new; Total medals available in Spotlight Series now only counts for active events
[UPDATE: 4:47 p.m. Pacific – We are aware that a number of users are running into issues with starting Apex since the latest update. For those users who are seeing the 501 Error Code message, you can bypass this error message by holding the “Page Up” button on your keyboard and then clicking the “Quit” button in the popup. The team is continuing to investigate the root cause of these issues.]
I’m not sure if it actually is limited. While I haven’t used a counter to test, I can easily spot the judder that occurs when the framerate and screen refresh rate isn’t 1:1.
My game is buttery smooth at 60fps+vsync. The 60 no-sync is slightly juddery without tearing, typical of framerates going beyond the refreshrate (in this case 60 Hz).
What ever Microsoft updated on Tuesday the 10th, has killed apex for me. Nasty crash to the desktop right after the “turn 10 studios” screen! Tried to uninstall and reinstall but still crashing. It does work if I use a second account but I want it to run on my main account. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!!
For PC games, not sure about consoles, a “content update” actually adds gameplay content…like ya know, in this case a car, or a track? Simply adding the option to “disable vysnc” it a hot fix at best, not a content update.
Mannn, I was hoping you added more tracks and cars…guess I should take the next “content update” with a bucket of salt and lower expectations.
Still, at least you guys are trying and adding options, keep it up but many make these sort of hot fixes less of the title winner.

i really would like to see forza on pc…project cars and games like it are great if you like to use wheels and post your fastest lap and brag about it etc…but what i like about forza is what you can do with the cars…such as upgrade the engine block…upgrading the suspension…etc…making build cars…and having the freedom to class your vehicle anyway you want…drift, drag, circuit, whatever…instead of having pre-built cars that you can “upgrade” by adjusting force feedback etc…to me graphics are gorgeous…there’s small things…but im not over critical when it comes to graphics in a racing game…all i can say is…i look forward to a release of forza on pc…that is all…
as for the update…i have gotten no update…i can’t even enable vsync…i copied and pasted the build number that we would need to upgrade to google searched it and it seems the upgrade build is for mobile applications…if there is anyone that can kindly aid me in how to update the beta…that would be great…“Note: i just checked my system…i have the appropriate build…still can’t see the v sync options…i think imma reinstall it…”
Drivatar amount is now reduced from 24 to 16. Previously the option to increase is hidden but there, now its completely gone and is locked to 16 players. Please fix this turn 10!
