Isn’t iHop the INTERNATIONAL House of Pancakes, though?
Heh.
Isn’t iHop the INTERNATIONAL House of Pancakes, though?
Heh.
Yep… just like the Miss Universe contest…
You know I do realize that it’s not the same people, but it is all in poor taste and bad timing.
Here I am, waiting for bug fixes on too many things to keep track of, waiting for PGG to do anything right when it comes to game design in support of the core concept of the game, waiting for licensing issues with Lancia and Alfa Romeo to resolve, and what do I get after 10 months of waiting?
An expansion that’s more roller coaster ride than driving game, the ability to finally play the game without crashing every 20 minutes, and the proud announcement of an official IHOP promotion, which I couldn’t even get if I wanted to.
Really selling me on the future of this franchise. Can we not just have an open-world racing game with half decent physics that actually cares about drivers and racers and car culture? Why is it so incredibly hard? Why do we have to keep dipping into irrelevant, defocusing elements? Why do you make it so hard to access racing features in this game, instead locking them behind the playlist?
This announcement was the final straw for me. This was the 1000th tiny cut. It’s so irrelevant yet at the same time so appropriate to how this franchise has been handled in the past two iterations. I’m done. I have zero faith that the next expansion will be any good. I have zero faith that the next iteration will be any good. PGG is so blind to their own missteps that I have a hard time believing they’ll go anywhere but down. They make having hope for this franchise way too stressful. I wish this franchise had competition, so very very much.
IHOP. Freaking IHOP. Unbelievable.
I am not moaning for the record, though. I just think of all the things to do region exclusively… xD
Because when I think Forza, I think pancakes that are a step below Eggo’s frozen waffles and eggs that are guaranteed to send you to the bathroom in 10 minutes, or your money back.
Tell me no one on the Forza team has ever eaten at an IHOP without telling me.
Then play something else, devs aren’t gonna miss you.
Ah, yes, because that’ll make the problems with this game go away.
On today’s episode of “Everyone Should Take a Chill Pill” …
That’s the worst part. I know this is so insignificant and that I shouldn’t let it bother me. Out of all the issues facing the game, this is so incredibly a non-issue it shouldn’t be worthy of my time or consideration, and would normally be something that I’d just shrug my shoulders an move on from.
But in my death from 1000 cuts, this is the one that got me. I don’t know what to tell you. I’m not even sure I’m capable of articulating it. I think the fact that it was so small and insignificant made it get to me more. I feel like PGG is suffering from cognitive dissonance, and we are powerless to stop it. It triggers a much deeper feeling in me, and I’m not going to be able to cope by just letting it go. It’ll continue to fester until the next cut, or maybe the one after that.
So wait, I get in-game pancakes? Are these in the Message Center or do I need to hunt down Pancakes scattered about Mexico to unlock the achievement!?!?!
I don’t really get this cross promotion either… the target demographic of this game doesn’t strike me as the IHOP crowd… and honestly IHOP and places like it here in the USA don’t have the greatest reputations for quality food. IHOP and Waffle House and Denny’s are their own memes over here. It seems really contextually out of touch to be honest. Like a decision based on some bean counters idea of what would be a good cross promotion based on statistics alone, and not knowing the actual perception of these franchises locally.
It does seem like not a lot of thought went into this, and that can make one wonder what and who are really making decisions on other things.
Too soon…too soon…
Pancake wheels coming in next update…
The cool kids used to go there in the wee hours after a night of partying. So the tie in makes some sense if they still do that.
The syrup helps them stick to the road better.
If this is even directly related to a PGG marketing department and not a hand-off from above, it would still have little to nothing to do with the perceived state of the game or its development.
