Forza Horizon 4 Crashing -PC

Hi,

I have been having issues with the demo version since I installed it a few days ago, I assumed these would be solved in the full retail version,
unfortunately this hasn’t been the case for me.

My game crashes during the Autumn intro within the first 20 seconds, I have managed to get as far as the Spring intro by lowering settings to 1024x768 lowest detail settings but still experience the game crashing in the same spot.

I have tried all the rumored fixes such as removing MSI afterburner, Rivia tuner, disabled Spatial sound, reinstalling the full game/demo, dropping settings to minimum, latest windows updates and nvidia drivers etc

My computer easily meets all the hardware requirements and is stable and well cooled

Any suggestions, or should I be patient and wait for a patch,
Thanks

Just an update, based on a few other solutions I have seen elsewhere.

I have uninstalled “Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition” and installed “Forza Horizon 4” from the microsoft store.

I disabled “Windows Defender real time threat detection”

Selected the recommended settings on the main screen “High Preset @ 72hz” and ran the benchmark.

The benchmark ran flawlessly until 97% (could see the finish line) and then crashed. (this is much further than previous attempts)

Have checked for additional windows and microsoft store updates, unfortunately none are available yet.

Update, I have managed to successfully complete the benchmark

I swapped out my Acer Predator 27" 2560x1440 144hz gync monitor
And tested the benchmark on an older AOC 24" 1920x1080 60hz monitor

The game selected Ultra Settings, 60hz vsync

Run 1: Windows Defender - Real time enabled - Benchmark crashed before cars loaded in
Run 2: Windows Defender - Real time disabled - Benchmark completed 100%, gpu usage avg 60%
Run 3: Windows Defender - Real time enabled - Benchmark ran smoothly until 22% then crashed
Run 4: Windows Defender - Real time disabled - Benchmark completed 100%, gpu usage avg 60%

It looks like windows defender is definitely causing issues, and their is issues either with the higher resolution (2560x1440) or gsync / higher than 60 refresh (the game crashes at 72hz or above)

Have you tested Windows Defender - Real time disabled at Ultra, 1440p144? I would quite like to see what that does…

Didn’t have much luck this time around, using Acer Predator XB271HUA 27" for the 1440p testing

Adjusted in game resolution and refresh (as well as in windows/nvidia settings to match)
Run 1: Realtime off , 1440p, gsync on, 144hz - crash (shows cars in first few frames at beginning of benchmark)
Run 2: Realtime off , 1440p, gsync off, 144hz - crash (shows cars in first few frames at beginning of benchmark)
Run 3: Realtime off , 1440p, gsync off, 60hz - crash @ 18% complete, gpu in mid 60’s% usage
Run 4: Realtime off , 1080p, gsync off, 60hz - crash @ 3% complete, gpu in low 50’s% usage

Quite surprised that run 4 didn’t complete, since I have been able to complete the benchmark with a native 1080p 24" monitor at native 60hz with the exact same hardware.

I’ll try turning off vsync in the ingame settings for the next set and see if I can get any improvement
