So, i have a pretty powerful computer that has the specs of:
i7-8750H
GTX 1050 Ti
16 GB 2666 MHZ ram
1 tb 5400rpm harddrive and an 128gb SSD
Windows version is 1903,btw.
When i try to start FH3,it comes to the trademarks and things and it stops there for no reason and the game gives a grey screen and crashes.
I tried everything i could but it didn’t fix it.
Hello. I also have the same problem. I even reset the game on the windows settings and didn’t worked.
Funny thing is that Forza Horizon 4 and Forza 7 work without any problem.
Totally true. Horizon 4 and Motorsport 7 run without any problem during hours on my pc.
It is just Horizon 3.
And the worst is that Horizon 3 is being still sold.
Me too, totally have no idea why. I submitted a ticket to PG weeks ago asking if there are any update to settle the unicorn cars, but their reply is ‘No future updates to this title’ so I assume they won’t take a look and fix this as well.
I can’t even play it on Xbox one S without the infiniti load…

is not your pc, neither you profile. It is as simple as hard, Horizon 3 has this crashes issues since day one, on both, console and pc.
I had this crashes too when I only used to play on console. This forum was plenty of posts reporting it, it turned on a big problem doing Goliath race (the longest race), as your effort used to be destroyed by a game crash.
Recently I started to play Horizon 3 again on pc. I got surprised watching that years after, the problem was still there.
I’m afraid that this issue is not going to be fixed now.
I’d rather less color shoes, dancing emotes, shirts and character movements in Horizon 4 that having Horizon 3 running properly.
I would understand this disaster if I came from a minor studio, but it is Playground.

un-installed a WORKING horizon3 a couple of months ago due to HD space.
re-installed (thus downloaded the complete game again) on monday.
now its a stuttering/lagging/input lagging/sou glitching MESS.
i had these issues ( but never so severe) with one of the earliest builds also but it worked perfectly for OVER 3 YEARS!
and now that the game is “finished” its COMPETELY unplayable?
its makes my pc sound like its gonna blow up while it plays horizon4-ms7 and every other game buttery smooth
i guess i could sigh submit a ticket. but they go into thin air anyways

having this issue on forza horizon 3… only. horizon 4… motorsport 6-7 all work fine…
only bought horizon 3 yesterday and have been spending about the last 20 hours looking for a fix . and nothing suggested works so far… its kinda nuts never seeb abything like it. its out of controll
zero help from microsoft… so asked for a refund…
Do a check for system updates. That should prompt a .NET Framework and Visual C++ components update if you recently installed an older game that downgraded them to older versions. In my case, this seems to have been the cause of crashes mid race. Hope it helps.
I was having a similar issue. I had uninstalled a working Forza Horizon 3 Hot Wheels bundle to save space, but a few days ago I put in a bigger game drive. I re-downloaded the game, tried to run it, the spinning load icon stuck about a second into the copyrights and licenses page, then it crashed. I reset the game under Windows Settings > Apps > Advanced Options, still crashed. Uninstalled from Windows Settings, rebooted, re-install from MS Store game page, still crashed. I decided to check the gamefiles and couldn’t find them. FH4, The Outer Worlds and Recore were all there, but not FH3… Okay, that’s weird. I open up Microsoft Store, uninstall check that it actually DL’d the game, it says it did, so I uninstalled from there, rebooted, then opened MS Store and went to My Library > All Owned, and clicked Manage on the bundle. Installed just the base game, still crashed. Installed the Hot Wheels expansion, still crashed. Then I remembered that I had just bought the Blizzard Mountain DLC for FH3, installed that, it runs. I’m not sure what to tell you guys. I’m just happy my game is working now. I can only assume that if you keep trying it will work or that you need all the expansions. IDKWTF.
Incidentally, I’m running Windows 10 vers. 2004 on a AMD Ryzen 9 3950X with a Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC and 32 GB of DDR4-3600 RAM.

Well the crash I am having is different I have everything installed I have not played it for a while though my crash happens when I try to go from the horizion festival intro to the actual game it locks up freezes then grey screen then just goes to desktop I got in once to control my car then lock up & crash. My Xbox One version works fine all I have done is updated my graphics driver to the letest one which is geforce driver 451.67 & uninstalled malwarebytes & Avast Antivirus this is one of the reasons why Console Gaming is the true master race single specification if an issue occurs possible simple fix as if one person gets an issue most people will have the same one.
Well I am just experimenting I reinstalled the game after uninstalling it after I tried resetting it & it still crshed on both but before those I tried reinstalling Malwarebytes & Avast Antivirus it still crashed on those as well. I then uninstalled the latest graphics driver & reinstalled Geforce 445.87 graphics driver still crashed I have just reinstalled graphics driver 446.14 it stuttering but playing I am juist about to install graphics driver geforce 451.48 I will give you my findings also I am running the game on Medium settings which it auto detects.
If anyone reads this can you post which graphics driver you had last installed when the game was working ok obviously me having a Nvidia card I cant confirm any AMD drivers Intersting very interesting just updated graphics driver to 451.48 after stuttering a couple times it locked up grey screen & crashed back to desktop.
Latest update & a very interesting one I have reinstalled geforce update 446.14 & guess what it still plays ok it is stuttery but it plays ok it locked up after it optimised my PC for the game so I had to reboot my PC via switching it off as it locked up & did nothing but after it started the game loaded fine. I am just speculating here i think there is something in the last & latest geforce updates that the game does not like in the latest & last updates I am referring to are 451.48 as the last & 451.67 as the latest.
I might as well as update this post well I managed to get it to run with the latest Graphics driver update 451.67 but after a while it locked up so yeah Playground Games needs to go & sort it out but they wont because to them it is an outdated game well in my & everyone elses opinion I am assuming is if your still making money from it via selling the game it is still relevant.
Also what a coincedence there is an issue with the game on PC it has been reported they are still making money out of it we want it fixed & they anounce it is coming to the end of its life well all PC owners better uninstall this game now as there wont be a fix to the freezing lockup issue now.
