Forza 7 Won't Launch [PC]

Hi all, hope somebody here can help me in some way. Ive had Forza 7 Ultimate since release, it was fine for a few weeks then it just wouldn’t launch at all. The splash screen shows up then all of a sudden it disappears and nothing happens. Ive deleted and reinstalled the game 3 times now, which has not solved the issue. With and without DLC. I am running all the latest software and drivers including latest windows updates. I was hoping on a fix on Forza 7 or even Windows 10? But nope. Also launch the game with MS Store and Xbox App open and both logged in.

I am now very frustrated, I have £80 worth of game I haven’t been able to play for weeks! And even when I was playing it, it was a buggy mess… If this game is gona be constantly broken guess I can ask for a refund?

Current spec:

Windows 10 Version 1709 - Build 16299.64 / i7-3770k @ 4.6Ghz / T’Grizzly Kryonaut / Noctua NH-D14
Gigabyte Z77-D3H / 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 1866MHz
Crucial 480GB / Zotac AMP! Extreme Core GTX 1080Ti / Corsair RM750X

Can anybody shed any light onto this issue? I really want to get back into this game…

Any help much appreciated! Regards.

got same problem

same issue here… FH3 and F7 both doing it.

I cant reinstall my 5mbit net cant handle it. Had to lug HEAVY pc to mates place to get in first place.

Clearly this isn’t an isolated issue then? It’s appalling this issue is still persistent, I haven’t been able to play Forza in weeks!

No official word on this?? Turn 10? MS?

Had the same problem. Reseting Store, Xbox and Forza app did nothing. WSRESET.exe did nothing.
Then I noticed a message in the Xbox app on the right side. It said thanks for preorder and it let me redeem two codes.

After that I had to download those dlcs in the store app.
Then it finally started !!

There is a serious issue with DLC / Validation in MS Store which prevents legit customers to start / install their bought apps.

My Game Won’t Launch this is pissing me off! 5MB Connection and a 200 GB Cap after that they slow my conection and i downloaded it 2X successfully after like 4 failds and the game still crash i try everything they recommend uninstalling DLC reseting windows store etc.

I’m having the exact same issue with Forza Motorsport 7 and Forza Horizon 3. I had this problem before and at some time it just decided to start working again. If any Turn 10 guys are reading this, are you aware of this issue? Is there a fix being worked on? Any info would be helpful and it would at least let us know you haven’t left us out to dry.

Yes, this is definitely a problem. T10 should just let us manage the game entirely on our PC, with no stupid constant authentication or million-layer DRM. Because this not only causes performance issues, but now, they won’t even let us play our game. We bought it, we own the right to play it whenever we want, under any circumstance. Just like the rest of the games that work perfectly fine, whether it’s Steam, Origin or any other gaming client.

Today I wasn’t able to launch my game again. As mentioned in another thread, the play button doesn’t even appear, and the game shows as if I don’t own it, despite I paid for the Ultimate Edition and the game is installed in my PC. Having to go through the hassle of deleting the DLC and re-download it is getting really exhausting, not to mention that data usage accumulates.

FIX IT, change the game so it works like the other thousands of games that work perfectly fine on PC (offline or online) or at least acknowledge the issue. Not sure why MS and T10 are so scared of PC gamers and letting them own the game. If we paid for it; what’s the big deal? Why the constant monitoring and control?

SOLUTION: I know this might not work for some, and I’m sorry. But for the ones that might not know this, try and uninstall just one of the DLC packs (NOT THE WHOLE GAME), and then reinstall. this should make the game launch without closing itself. At least it is the only solution that works for me and others.

Thanks! This worked for me as an workaround. Now T10 please do your job, you got your payday already!

Hello, I was playing FM7 as recently as yesterday with the game working, and found it not working today. I had applied the Fall Creators Update last week and had played several times since installing it.

What worked for me was checking the Windows Store and installing “Forza Motorsport 7 Driver Gear 3”, which was in my suggested apps. I have no idea why this was an issue or if it actually was the solution. I had tried updating my video drivers and reinstalling the overclocking/monitoring application for my ASUS graphics card (note that I play on an Alienware 15 laptop with their proprietary external desktop graphics card interface).

Hope this helps at least one of you out there, best of luck finding a solution.

I just had exactly the same problem on Horizon 3. Just updated to windows build 16299.64 and the game wouldn’t load. So I rolled back and now it works fine.
[Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] playground games? I didn’t think you were this incompetent…
Unless its a microsoft store issue but still if this was on steam it wouldn’t be a problem.

Maybe if you were more open with your community about issues like this I wouldn’t be so annoyed.

To everyone still having problems, the following method has worked every time for me:

  1. Make sure game still crashes on start up :frowning:
  2. Go into settings app (if on Win 10) and scroll down to Forza 7 and FH3 if you have it
  3. Left Click on Forza 7 then click on Advanced Options
  4. Click on Reset
4a) IF you have FH3 installed as well, do steps 3&4 for it as well. For some reason they are occasionally tied together
  5. Go into the windows store app and go through every single DLC item and make sure they dont have a BLUE Install button
5a) If it does, redownload/install it
  6. After checking ALL DLC for F7 (and FH3 if you have it) try relaunching the game
  7. Usually enjoy success and play on

I have this problem that Forza 7 doesn’t launch since several weeks now. But I recently found the solution for me: I have the “Forza Motorsport 7 Microsoft Store Driver Gear” installed. This seems to cause the problem. So, I do the following:

  1. Click on Advanced Options of your Forza 7 installation.
  2. Uninstall the Forza Motorsport 7 Microsoft Store Driver Gear Addon
  3. Reinstall the Forza Motorsport 7 Microsoft Store Driver Gear Addon
  4. Launch Forza 7. It works again.

Since I have to do this workaround each and every day, the “Forza Motorsport 7 Microsoft Store Driver Gear” seems to cause very BIG trouble.

How do I reinstall driver gear? I have installed that via redeem code from MS Store. Code is used obviously now.

Had the same issue. Then realized it’s exactly the same for both Horizon and Apex. Even the Forza Hub app does the same. Tried pretty much everything said here and I’m out of options sort of reinstalling everything which there’s no way I’m doing. Even the Store has started acting up with pages not loading at all. Should have known better than to buy anything Microsoft, at least I learned my lesson.

Well byyeeee Forza! Utter waste of time and money. MS won’t give me a refund and it’s now in the hands of a paypal dispute!

Same here

Games crash instantly for me as well. Issue started when I updated Windows 10 to build 1709. Store issue I think as I can’t launch the windows weather app either. I managed to fix this some time ago for FH3 after another update broke everything by deleting some store files manually but I can’t remember which folder it was :frowning:

this is not a problem with Forza, it’s a problem with the Microsoft Store. The easiest fix I’ve found is to fina any random free app in the store and download it. This usually resets the store’s status and allows you to play the game again. Again, there is absolutely nothing that Turn 10 can do about this issue, it’s down to Microsoft to fix.
