Having revealed the modern version of the GT40 to great fanfare, Ford released another concept harking back to its partnership with Shelby American in the 1960s. The Shelby GR-1 is the modern version of the legendary Shelby Daytona Coupe. The concept had a prototype V10 engine developing 605 hp and a six-speed manual. Sadly, it or the V10 never went into production or at least that’s what everyone thought. Superformance, one of the main builders of licensed Shelby Cobra replicas, announced in 2019 that they would produce the GR-1 , albeit with a 700 hp supercharged V8.
Ahhh….TDU1 memories….such a nice design….and with a V10 that should have gone to production. Would have ended up being even better than the viper V10 considering potential output per displacement.
