FM7 - Worth Buying

I think a lot of these replies are unfair and bias due to some issues. Here is my take and I’ve played them all as well.

  1. FM7: I’ve played through many series events and on Pro with a wheel and I don’t smash my way into the first few corners and I’ve never played a AI in FM that was more controlled than this version… of course I use the Limit Aggression for AI.

  2. The SP events for FM7 unlike FM6 is the best they done mixing up the tracks and allowing you to play some showcase events and pick you own class to race in each main series/championship. I have really enjoyed how I’m racing on different tracks, I also change the race length depending on the class series and tracks…like for instance I hate Long Beach… AI is much better but I ran like 4 laps… at SPA showcase I ran 69 laps in the Corvette GT. so on… very good career mode this time vs. FM6

  3. You seem to get plenty of cars as you level up… I never really had to buy any to race… as you seem to get what you need to complete each championship… but of course you can buy what you like too.

I’d for sure recommend the game it’s Forza for crying out loud… and if you a wheel player (I can not account for pad users) the game allows enough FFB setting to make it feel reasonable. If you always played and enjoyed Forza… you know you’ll get it anyway,… might asa well get it now…!

Good luck and enjoy!

Well I picked it up over the weekend. All in all, I am basically happy with it. Though there is a bit of bump car affect, it is just that: bumps and not instant 180 spinouts. The drivator difficulty needs work. Average I will with 10+ seconds and Above Average I am always about 5th and about 10 seconds behind the leader. I do like the ability to increase the race laps. Mods seem pretty stupid, or maybe I have not found/gotten any good ones.

My biggest complaint is spending the $100 for the ultimate edition. Nothing worthwhile, just a bunch of stupid FF7 cars and a black racing suit.

Is it a perfect racing game? No. Is the game buggy and seem unfinished? Yes. Is the game sorta a Forza 6 deluxe? Yes. Is the game a hell of a lot fun? YES! It’s a game people, not reality. Buy it. Play the hell out of it, and have fun with it. I am sure Turn10 is working on the issues and over time much will improve. Now if Turn10 fills the game with all the car’s I request, my life will be complete.

Well, now that I have played the game for a bit, my opinion is dropping dramatically.

  1. Multiplayer is just as stupid as FM6.
  2. Career mode has less content. Several of the races are just down right awful. The AI just makes them impossible. The is a brick wall where motivation disappears to make any progress.
  3. Freeplay is about the only thing worth while to play, but no real motivation to play extensively.

Seriously, what has Turn 10 done for the last year and a half since FM6? Multiplayer has gotten worse, career mode has made no improvement. Other than a few new cars and some tweaks to the game engine, there really is nothing new. Definitely disappointed I spent the $100 on the game. I would have still been disappointed even spending $30 for it in the bargain bin.

if you like upgrading your car and tuning it… this is the worst forza game yet.

the AI is either the same as 5/6 or worse… i find them significantly more aggressive myself, i’ve never even tried turning the aggression on as in many case its already like driving with the worst drivers. in fact i’d go so far as to same there nothing intelligent about drivatars at all if your on the line and they aren’t they might literally just crash into you… never mind how aggressive they are in sharp corners… if is the unintelligent combination of A) trying to simulate real drivers, while B) you don’t even exist as far as computers are concerned (you have to react to them, they don’t react to you), while C) making the them drive like slot cars (basically perfect turning all the time; on top of always being on the line unless another computer car is there, if your there they don’t care/see you).

typically forza is is better on multiplayers… but on forza 7 they dropped the ball on everything other than car/track count… i literally could not name one improvement other that the amount of content… and personally i’ve rather forza go back to half as many cars if it meant getting the functionality of EVERY OTHER FORZA GAME back.

the new homologation system ruined forza… its far worse than the (anti-)AI or the dumb driving suits, or loot boxes… the latter two of which are essentially superficial (you could play without either), but if you dislike homologation theres currently no way to play without it… and the current homologation system is just plain anti-forza… they either need to remove homologation or make it optional (i won’t be buying another forza game or buying any additional DLC for FM7 until they do).

in short i call forza 7 , forza in name only, it doesn’t live up to the franchise… until forza 7 every forza game was a significant improvement over the last game. this one isn’t… if you already have forza 6 you might as well keep playing that, unless you really want to race a certian car/cars that isn’t is 6 but is in 7… and i would NEVER buy a game for that…

…and if i could have gotten a refund at gamestop for forza 7 i would have… the sad fact is most of the people that want a refund will have been unable to get one… a month later and my initial opinion of the game is unchanged, it might even be worse.

I suspect it is still too early to predict if AI mechanics have improved any over the past. The game just came out and the population is still thin. Negative criticism has caused a number of players to give up after completing only a few races. Time and time again I am seeing that a tiny percentage of players have completed the simplest tasks. It looks like only about 25% have finished more than the first couple races. You can’t judge the effectiveness of the system when it is based upon a drivatar that has stopped being used. Some friends I made in other games picked up the game and did just that. I have run across their drivatars repeatedly in races after completing the Elite Breakout Championship with them still rated tier 1 or 2. They should not have progressed to that level of racing, but what are you to do when there are few players in a new game who have progressed that far? In the long endurance race at Sebring, I was racing against the original drivers from years ago. It is mostly AI. Be a pioneer. Buy the game and get your name on the leaderboards. All of the complaining is being done mostly by audiophiles and now the new breed of videophiles.
I started out listening to some of the earliest posts concerning the game and came away with a bad first impression. I looked for problems and found them because I was influenced to do just that. Now a little time into the game has adjusted my attitude. Buy it. Get good at it. And then give me the opportunity to blow your doors off.
The system of drivatars is teaching kids and those new at racing to drive like maniacs. I suspect there is a sweet spot that causes drivatars to react to responsible driving.
