FM Update 5.0 overview - Nordschleife and Ringer Tour

Now after i played Hockenheimring and Virgina International Raceway in the BMW cup, the loadscreen for Watkins Glen was only like 15 seconds compared to the more than 60 seconds in the previous 2 races. Something really weird happened to the game.

@Staffy2 It’s not a nightmare with a halfway decent rig believe me, but it sucks we PC players can’t enjoy the game with unlocked framerate. And the game has so many issues on both PC and X-Box.

I have a “half decent rig”
5800x3d, 3080ti, 64g ram Samsung 1tb m.2 drives (x2)

and can confirm that it is indeed a nightmare.

Benchmark before running a race in career mode:

Benchmark after attempting to load next race in series and exiting to menu

They have messed something up in the update.

What is that CPU Render score?!

Avg Min Max
0.0 0.0 2358.5

Exactly. I did not touch a single setting. Something has gone bad wrong. The game worked prior to update 5, but now every single time I try to run two races in a row-
They can be two in the same series or one career and one free play- This is what happens.

If I want to complete a series I have to run a race, exit the game, run the next race, etc.

After seeing the cpu render score I have stopped trying to play the game. It’s not worth possibly damaging hardware.

Why not set “Performance Target” to 60 FPS V-Sync? If your display is set to 60 HZ anyway?

And i heard somewhere, the game doesn’t like the 5800x3d for some reason, it runs better on a regular 5800x, because that has higher CPU frequency compared to the 3d version.

I only get decreasing FPS after like 2-6 hours, it’s pretty random. But not after 1 race. I have a R9 5950x and RTX 3080.

I have the Vsync run through NVIDIA control panel- because using the built in vsync was giving me 300+ stutters on the benchmark.

This also happens if you set it to “Let application decide” in the control panel and with 60 FPS V-Sync on in the game? I mean you can only activate one thing or the other.

Both combined leads to issues.

with “let application decide” and Vsync running in game I get stutters.

With game unlocked and NVIDIA vsync set to 60fps I get no stutters.

In both scenarios I get the extreme Vram usage after one race.

I also get this CPU Render 0 thing after i drove a few races, but it has no influence on the actual performance.

Usually i always had 0 stutters, but this time one happened for whatever reason.

I also wish they separate this forum in to pc and console, as I won’t lie, I’m getting but tired of pc users having an issue every 5 mins.

It would be easier to read the place to.

@T10ManteoMax could this happen?

as you can see I am running the latest display driver, and windows is up to date.

I tried restarting my computer
I “verified install” through steam
I reinstalled the display driver (fresh install)

prior to the update everything worked (some jankiness initially loading into tracks due to the game’s distaste for the 5800x3d).

Post update, what you see is what I got.
None of the things shown above made any difference (other than getting to wait for “compiling shaders” after driver re-install).

The High GPU usage, once it starts, continues until I close the application.

I’ve opened up a help ticket, but am not holding my breath for a fix.

we’re tired of having them.

High GPU usage is a normal thing, that is what they are made for. In all other games i let my FPS go freely up to 120 and my GPU runs to 99% utilization for hours.

Maybe try out Alex’s settings from Digital Foundry. The whole video is useful. I use his settings.

That very well may be the case, but there is world of difference between “high gpu usage under heavy graphical load” and “high gpu usage sitting on a menu screen because someone broke something in the update”

In the first instance, the gpu is functioning normally and any programming for thermal protection would be utilized due to it being a normal (albeit heavy usage) operational condition.

In the second instance where high gpu usage is being caused in error, you, microsoft, or the card manufacturers cannot guarantee that the same safeguards are going to prevent damage. In theory, they SHOULD- but then again the GPU SHOULDN’T be under that kind of load in menu screens.

Not a chance I want to take.

MY settings were just fine prior. The only thing that changed was the update. Messing with the display settings is not going to make the game playable when nearly 100% of the Vram is being utilized by an error. Turn10 need to fix the game- the end.

Why not just BLOCK us so horribly ANNOYING PC USERS HUH? I already blocked you. I just clicked “View Hidden Content” to read your post. Nobody forces you to read anything. It’s not like we are standing next to you with a megaphone yelling something in your ears. There are ignore/block options for a reason.

Why block if your going to unhide it anyway, pathetic but eh you do you mate.

I haven’t got time to block each and every pc owner on this forum.

But if you had your own little section to post away your issues, I wouldn’t go there.

Surely that’s simpler for everyone involved, and the team to go through to get your game fixed quicker.

And a second note you need to relax mate, your gonna give your self Hemorrhoids or something!

Nordschleife is awesome, but I now have randomly very long load times for tracks (2-3 minutes), it’s usually only a few seconds - has anyone experienced this as well? I’m playing the Windows version on PC. Also, whatever they did to the AI might’ve backfired, cars seem to almost deliberately ram me and each other, or even get stuck off track.

I had the long loadscreens you describe only for 3 races then it stopped.
