The game randomly crashes/quits after about 15-20mins of gameplay, for no apparent reason. I have tried rolling back my Nvidia driver but to no avail.
Same. Been going on for about a week now.
Same here. Always getting the same error code 0xc0000005. It is super frustrating, can’t enjoy the game.
Windows 11
Nvidia 4060ti
Intel i7 14700
I keep getting the same error too. Usually whenever I have my Spotify open, and it takes out my Discord and Steam tabs whenever it happens, too.
Win11
AMD RX6600
AMD Ryzen 5 5600
16 GB RAM
Getting the Same. Game Crashes couple times a day.
Win11 Build 22631.4460
AMD Ryzen 7800x3d
Nvidia 1660 Super
32GB RAM
Windows 10, i9 10900 , 32gb Ram RTX 3080 OC , Nividia app has its optimised settings, ended up having to turn off ray tracing etc.
Further increased virtual ram to 35Gb for both SSD’s. Nividia creator driver is apparently more stable than the Nividia gaming driver also.
Turn off anything with overlays, like steam Malwarebytes, virus scan, turn off and also close the VPN software also.
It still crashes eventually, and forces PC to restart…
Other times crashes immediately on loading. Other times 20mibs, 30mins, today lasted 2hr 30mins crashed.
This doesn’t happen to any other games on the same pc…only FH5.
Got to be a Nividia thing. Have in installed reinstalled app and drivers also for good measure.
Yeah everytime i try to launch the game, itll sometimes freeze up my pc and itll say error code 0xc0000005
Crashes are still happening. Rolling the driver back does nothing as of the game update from december 12th. I rolled back to multiple drivers (one from sept. 2023) and the game still crashes
my 2 PCs randomly crash every day, from 12600kf 6700xt to 14600kf rtx3070, I can confirm it’s not my hardware issue, 2 PCs using 3 sets of ram, as we all know 0xc0000005 mostly is sth wrong with ram, so I monitored my system status usong hwinfo and found the virtual ram usage spike to 99.8% the second before crashes, my thought is this game is related to some memory leakage issue…
This issue appears to be well known. Downgrade to Nvidia driver 561.09. Many are having success including myself and those on reddit - Reddit - Dive into anything

Also seeing this problem, typically after about a week of play I will start to get crashes during races if I enter Photo Mode, then game will start crashing on race entry, and then crash during freeroam. Shutting down the game and restarting it does not ‘reset’ this progression.
All drivers are up to date, system memory shows no errors in MemTest86, I have no out-of-spec temperature or voltage sensors, system is Win11 with a GeForce RTX4070ti and game installed to a v.5 M.2 NVMe, no conflicting programs running, game folders (exec and user) are excluded from virus scanning. Game crashes whether my system has been recently restarted or has been left running.
I did discover something that may be helpful, this was also posted to Microsoft’s XBox support. If I uninstall the game, and then clear out the install and user data folders, game will work as expected on reinstall (no crashes). This lasts for a few days, and then random crash behavior returns. Based on this data, I suspect that there is a local file getting corrupted as gameplay progresses, and when the player attempts to do something new (such as shoot photos, enter an event, or event is concluded and player accomplishes something) this local file either loads wrong and causes the CTD, or isn’t able to be saved/verified and causes the CTD.
This issue will need to have some kind of access auditing to narrow down the cause, so that the specific file can be determined (and then examined by the QA/support devs to see what exactly is getting messed up.) Once there’s an idea of what is going on, at that point the game can be patched to address the problem. But, we can’t get there without help, so I would encourage others to try this and see if it helps, and also report for how long it helps (if at all).
Step 1) Uninstall the game, via Steam, XBox Live, or Microsoft Store
Step 2) Clear the contents of the game install folder : {Steam Install Directory} \steamapps\common\ForzaHorizon5
Step 3) Clear the contents of the game user folder : C:\Users**{Windows User}** \AppData\Local\ForzaHorizon5
Step 4) Reinstall the game and play.
Again, please try this and see if it helps, and for how long. It is a ‘band aid’, but less invasive than starting a new XBox profile which wipes all achievement progress.
same issue. game is crashing after 1-2hrs of gameplay on latest nvidia drivers
now its 566.36

working drivers for me is 556.12 and 561.09 (studio versions)
So, it is a driver issue?
Rolling back drivers is NOT an acceptable solution. Well over a hundred hours in this game, never had stability issues… took a while off. Just getting back into the game and… Well I quit again I guess until it gets fixed. Not going to deal with these constant crashes. Looks like a pretty widespread problem considering the number of Reddit posts. How is this still not fixed?
I also noticed that Reddit post which is why I came here to upvote the issue. Rolling back drivers is not an acceptable solution. Many people don’t play just one game. I have about 30 games installed at the moment and FF7 Rebirth comes out this week. I shouldn’t need to roll back my drivers (multiple driver versions) to get a 3 year old game to not crash every 30-60 minutes. The funny thing is the patch notes for this most recent driver says it fixed this issue for FH5.
There was the same issues in FH4 2 years ago. At that time I did actually roll back so I could finish 100%ing and uninstall. My family bought these FH4 and 5 for all of us to play together but when one of us is randomly crashing, it really ruins the experience. My two sons are learning what the state of (western) gaming is in 2025. It’s an interesting thing to have to explain to your kids.
I was typing this between The Exterminator runs. A crash got me motivated to go to the forums and upvote the issue. And just got another crash to finish off the night (probably had 6 or 7 crashes today). All you can do is laugh I guess.
i don’t think so… everything else working fine except fh5 and 4
I thought I had it working after closing literally everything else running on my system. On a week old windows install so that was easy enough. I was able to finish the weekly challenges with only 1-2 crashes. Better at least, but still unacceptable… So then I moved on to try and catch up on the Rally stuff. Well, I haven’t been able to make it through a single rally event without a crash. The Rally stuff seems especially unstable. Whether it is the drivers or the game doesn’t matter. They need to fix this.
