Forza Horizon 5 on Steam

Steam Store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1551360/Forza_Horizon_5/

Pre-Purchase Forza Horizon 5 - Standard Edition - $59.99
Pre-Purchase Forza Horizon 5 - Deluxe Edition - $79.99
Pre-Purchase Forza Horizon 5 - Premium Edition - $99.99
Premium Edition provides Early Access on November 5th just as those who purchase it through Xbox.

Steam will have support for cross-play, but cross-save with Xbox is not supported.

You can actually patch it by yourself in FH4. Just download Xinput v2 (not v3!) and paste the x64 DLL in your FH4 installation folder. Let me just copy the guide for you:

A lot of players are reporting that there is no Xbox One controller vibration or trigger rumble while playing Forza Horizon 4 on Steam. To fix this issue, disable Steam input. Right-click Forza Horizon 4 > Properties > Controller > Disable steam input. Go to this link (Releases · araghon007/X1nput · GitHub) and download X1nput v2.0 (not v3!). Open the 64bit folder and then copy the XInput1_3.dll file and paste it in the Forza Horizon 4’s install folder. With this fix, Xbox One Controller’s trigger rumble or vibration will start working in the game.

It’s a shame that they never fixed it since it’s so easy to do it yourself.

Hi Guy! I’m wondering if anyone can help me with this. If I’m going to buy FH 5 Steam version, is it required to have a proper NAT Type (Opened) and the Server Connectivity (Open) - which can be found at XBox Networking Windows settings - the same way if I’m going to purchase it from the Windows Store (or) the Steam version will use another different set of network settings because maybe it will use another separate servers of its own?

Reason of this question: A lot of FH4 players who got the game from Windows Store (including me) have been through hell whenever they wanted to have a proper online gaming experience because they had some blocked NAT and Server connectivity and I want to be sure I won’t have the same bad experience if I will buy the Steam version of FH 5.

Hi Ko3MoS - please go to Forza Support and use the “Submit a Ticket” link at the bottom of this article to submit your question to the team to research it.

Most likely will be the same, probably with all the inherent bugs that came with combining Steam and Microsoft. They never did address the issue in fh4 and I highly doubt they will address the issue in fh5. I suspect 5-20 minute wait times between online races will be the “new norm” for horizon titles.

I feel the same. I contacted FH sUPpOrT and as I expected, they did not disappoint my expectations about the level of support they are capable to offer.

That’s the reply I got from them:

Copy/Paste reply. This game is Windows 10/11/Xbox exclusive with this type of ridiculous support

In case anyone would like to know what exactly I’m talking about, I texted them the following

Will the PC/Steam version of Forza Horizon 5 have next gen graphics that the series x have?

Buying on Steam, Activating on MS Store, and Downloading on MS Store

Is it possible? In case the MS Store version works better (I read somewhere the gamepad force feedback works better on the MS Store version)? Because in my region the Steam store price is lower.

After I activate and download it on MS Store, will the game be permanent on my MS account even if I later unlink it from my Steam account?

Hi,

I’m not sure if this has been answered, but, Steam still shows the Premium Edition as releasing on the 9th, is that just a placeholder? Is Steam getting the Premium Edition Early access too? Thanks.

Will I be able to access saves from windows store version to steam?

From the FAQ:

“Q: Does Forza Horizon 5 support cross-play and cross-save across console generations and between console and PC?
A: Forza Horizon 5 will support cross-play and cross-save across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Steam will have support for cross-play, but cross-save with Xbox is not supported.”

Anyone else having this issue? Everything is unpacked and installed, DLCs and all…

EDIT: Nevermind! Restarting Steam fixed it.

If I purchased the premium edition DLC on microsoft store but bought the game on steam, would I also have the premium edition content on steam? I have problems with toredo and connection with microsoft games all the time so it’s really hard for me to play online with friends and i’ve tried every work around for it. Just trying to get the best experience i can from this game.
