This issue happens consistently for me and it is game breaking. If I for example tap D to steer right sometimes it would just ignore the input, sometimes it would hang like I was holding D even though I released the button. Sometimes it feels like it drops the input I gave then it comes back and acts a second or two later. I noticed that it happens almost all the time when I’m playing with a friend in a group. When I’m playing alone it happens rarely. Once I screen shared playing FH4 to my friend in Discord and then it was really bad, like half of the input I gave to the game didn’t register. I am playing on a keyboard only.
Exactly the same thing happening with me…
I’m interested to know how common this problem is. I’ve searched through the internet but haven’t found much.
If you happen to find a fix please post it here.
bump… anyone?
I have the same problem, I can’t find a fix for it. But I think its from having really high cpu usage. My cpu is constantly at 100% when playing
I read somewhere else that this might be a high load CPU problem but can’t confirm. My CPU is Intel Core i5 4460 it should be able to handle this game without problems since I run it at constant 60FPS. I wasn’t able to check if my CPU is at 100% since MSI Afterburner isn’t working with this game last time I checked.
I had this problem as well and the cause was several streams running on the background on Firefox (high CPU load). Funny thing is that FH4 is the only game (of the ones I’m currently playing) that has a problem with that.
While there were lag with keyboard and mouse, there were no lag with the controller.
I have exactly the same problem, when I use the 120 FPS setting. No problem with the 60 FPS setting.
3 month later still the same problem.
FIX
I had the game set to limited 20 fps ( settings, video, “FRAME RATE” ) and I had a massive delay on my keyboard to the game, all other apps had no delay so I knew it was the game, I had a look in the settings and just out of curiosity I set my game to 30 fps and saw it was better, then I set it to 60 fps and I found that the problem is now gone and the game still runs as smooth in races as it did.
You just had set low framerate. I have 60 FPS all the time, mine is a different issue.
It was fine around the launch time. But now I believe latest updates broke the game. I am almost sure it is dependent on your internet connection. Because whenever I have a stream open in the browser, game goes crazy (input lags, stutters and such) and stream pauses to buffer. I couldn’t find a solid solution but closing internet offending programs minimizes the problem.
I’m actually pretty sure it’s not the internet. If I go offline I still get the issue. I think it’s something with CPU usage, therefore closing everything else helps but it doesn’t remove it completely. When I’m playing with a friend I use Discord and then it becomes noticably worse. I also notice that my CPU usage is nearing 100%. One thing would be if my CPU was weak but it runs the game at 60FPS constantly so it’s not a weak CPU, it’s just poorly optimized game.
I’m having the same problem
I turned Vsync on and it worked for me.
I have Vsync ON all the time, still have the problem.
Guys it is the internet connection, I have tried playing in offline mode, it works fine in offline mode.
I am having the same issue. Smooth 60fps, horrible input delay.
I joined here just to post this and hopefully help someone. My game worked fine. Then I turned on " show framerate " and changed it from 30 to 60fps. Then i started having the issue described here (keyboard inputs being ignored/delayed). While trying to hit 60fps my GPU/CPU (cos im ryzen) would hit 99 and i would have input delays. Setting the max framerate at 30 keeps my GPU percentage down near 60% and i no longer have this issue.
