Why oh why though game do you only ever seem to put me in teams like this when I don’t care this is the only thing I’ve done in the season and it’ll likely stay that way, I just wanted to try the Cyberster tune I shared on Wednesday in a couple of actual races irrespective of how well/badly the team aspect went…
Looks like another strong MG. I didnt realize the Cyberster was eligible for that event … I was trying to test all the options, but I was sorting from my garage and didnt realize that was one of the very few cars that I hadnt bought from the auction house yet. Completely overlooked it. Doh!
The start of the Trial was hilariously awful, as expected. (My first warning should have been that I was the only player with prestige stars…uh-oh.) Cathedral Circuit remains an affront to both God and man. I was right behind someone who got stuck on one of those nearly-invisible bits of geometry on the edge of the track, so they came to an instant dead stop and I did too when I rear-ended them. Without that I’m pretty sure I could have made it to the front and started to send the AI backwards. I did manage to work through the carnage on Plaza Circuit, but since points were tight I parked myself in front of an AI until a teammate could come up and grab the lead. Mercifully the game gave me 7th to start Chihuahua, so I quickly jumped out to a lead and nudged a few AI into the wall along the way, and the team cleaned up after that.
It’s a small thing, but that Horizon Open task is a classic example of picking event restrictions from a hat without giving any thought to them. “Okay, Open Custom options only go down as far as B class…so let’s pick a car group with 95% of its entries in C/D class by default!” Can we maybe apply even the tiniest bit of consideration to these things?
Other than that, it was a nice smooth week. Even managed to wind up in the closest Team King match I’ve ever seen. We were down by a minute or so for most of it, and then with less than 20 seconds left on the clock we grabbed the lead back and just barely closed it out. That was actually a blast.
