And the last few model years - after they ditched the plastic body cladding and upsized the wheels - were actually quite handsome in the right colour. A guy on my regular cycling route had one in blue that was quite striking. He sold it for a 6-cylinder Camaro.
Thought I’d pop in to say I’m a fan of the pack too. Yeah, the Aztek is an ugly thing, and probably is a big reason for Pontiac’s eventual death. But it is, for better or worse, a milestone in automotive history. That it also has a significant pop-culture tie-in is a fact that shouldn’t be overlooked either. The celebration of automotive history is one of the things I love about both FM and the GT series, and racing some of the oddballs can prove significantly entertaining. I think I’ll turn one into an autocross car first (with an LS swap, naturally).
The SVX is a personal favourite, as it hasn’t been in a home-console game in at least a decade if memory serves. I’m loving the constant expansion of historic IMSA racers. The Sunbeam fits right in, as does the Corolla. The car that interests me the least is the Ford, but that’s only because I don’t really race the higher classes in game. I’m still going to try it out though, and I completely understand its importance.
Looking forward to this, thanks T10 for another diverse pack.
I will never understand inclusions like the Pontiac Aztek (top 3 ugliest cars ever?). Can’t believe that in buying the car pass, I bought this car and ones like it that I will never, ever use. But, the reality that we all have to face is that this car pass wasn’t made for ME… It was made for everyone, so there are cars in the pack that I will love (Daytona Prototype and Cougar XR-7), and there will be cars that I hate but other people, somehow, love, lol.
Hard to say what is impressive and what’s not without having driven any of them yet. Lots of cars I never even expected to drive have been amazing in the career part of the game. I’m sure there will be gems among these cars too.
I’m pretty happy about the cougar. My old man had a bunch of MN12 cars, so I’ll be most likely painting it a solid color and seeing how many memories it’ll invoke
Something I’ve noticed with stock settings (and the car upgraded to P/993) is some severe body roll, to the point where I can pull the front wheels off the ground. Here’s a quick clip of me weaving down a straight to illustrate this point.
The aero is very rear-heavy too, at least 500lbs more than the front, which makes it tough to carry speed through the corners. Ultimately I don’t think it’ll be competitive in either P or R as there are cars that clearly outclass it in both Classes.
It seems as though someone at Turn 10 has got the Aero backwards. The winglets add downforce not remove downforce. The front and rear aero seems backwards also. How did they let this happen when it has been advertise everywhere and now the cars is broken from the start.
I am at work and was really looking forward to driving a Dayton Prototype when I get home. Now it looks like disappointment because it is broken from the start. Forza and Turn 10 will get a black eye for this mistake. If it isn’t a mistake then I guess they want the Riley to drive like a 1970’s muscle car. So bummed now. The game has got to get the balance of cars right or you might as well just hotlap the DLC cars in rivals mode.
