Okay so I was racing and when I got to about lap 18 or so I noticed there was a faint grey dot about a 1/4 of the lap in front, is this the world record lap or just last position?
no, it should be the last place vehicle you are approaching.
Exactly this. Any vehicle you are coming up to lap should be greyed out in the minimap so you know they are a backmarker.
What the others have said. Although I do wish they’d put an outline around the dots so players can distinguish them from normal map movement due to pixelation during the race. Many times I see a bulge on the minimap only to find it’s just the map’s pixels doubling and not a lap car. Whoever’s idea it was to make the backmarker icon the came colors as the map & its background, it’s stupid.
