Why are there no f1 cars in most FH games, and i would love to have them in the new game(s) also maybe a track
I think they do it any more so people have some reason to want to play Motorsport titles which have more purpose built race cars and is more about track racing and this game is more about cars that were and are significant to motoring in a more general sense… all the race cars we have in game, have some very interesting histories and their builders or drivers in some way contributed to what we know as motoring today - and that is why I think they are included here to some degree.
yeah it’s confusing, we do have purpose built race cars in this game so you’d think… We get a NASCAR, why not an F1 car? We have XE cars, why not Formula E cars?
There are a couple documentary series out right now streaming called
“Cars that built the World” and “Cars the Build America” and I highly suggest everyone find them and watch them… they are fascinating and very well done, and after watching them I understand so much better why this game is what it is, and why they use the cars they have and why some cars we don’t have.
Again, it’s not perfect by any means… but more clear what the distinctions are.
I think they are on Hulu right now. Not sure where else you could find them.
@Foreman81, these shows were originally shown on the History Channel if that helps any. They are definitely worth a watch!
The old Maserati attempted to qualify for the Indy 500 in 1950. That’s notable as Indy was a round of the F1 World Championship back then with 1950 being the first year of the F1 WC. A close variant of the Porsche 550A started a few f1 events. There’ s your F1 connections AFAIK.
The 80’s Benetton is supposed to be in the game files and maybe that’s for the other title. But if it is for this one, I don’t see why not if you also have the Forsberg Camry in the game. An alternative that’s more suited to the twisty Mexican roads, might be a hillclimb Pilbeam which has all the visual cues of a top tier open wheeler.
FH3 in particular had a number of GT cars and the like, but there have only been a handful of purpose-built race cars since.
It’s the same reason why there are no current WRC cars in Horizon. Licensing. Specifically because there are official F1 and WRC games. Having the same cars featured in any other game would defeat the purpose of the official games existing at all. “Why spend 60 dollars every year on the latest F1 game when Horizon just added the cars for free?” is the question EA, the FIA, and anyone else involved fear.
Maserati was an interwar Grand Prix winner and a winner at Indy in 39/40.
Porsche 550A was really a sportscar and in modified form it briefly appeared in privateer hands as a “F2” car within F1 race. Porsche 550 - Wikipedia
