Short version: When starting a race or custom event, let us choose options like vehicle class and performance restrictions, time of day, weather, number of laps, number of drivatars, etc.
Long version:
As FH5 currently is, if I want to race the Goliath with 80’s cars then I would have to add this restriction and save it as a new event. If I want it to be post-rain I have to save it as another event. If I want to change any of these details on a custom blueprint I have to test-drive it again then save it as a new event.
If racing with a crew and we want to try running a custom event with a certain class or car restriction the creator then has to drop out of the convoy, go into the editor, make the changes, test drive again while everyone waits, save, publish, hope it doesn’t glitch out in providing a share code, rejoin the convoy, then try to race.
Why can’t we choose these details on the fly for a single race and not have to save them with their own sharecode?
What kept me playing my custom GTA 5 races for years was being able to load up one track then drive it with every different vehicle class, back to back. I’d drive through all of my coupes, then go and drive through all of my muscle cars, and so on. I could also link them together as a race series, but that’s another matter.
FH5 offers us a lot to work with but it can also be quite restrictive if we just want to go in and run some races. If I wanted to drive all of my custom routes with 80’s cars I would have to edit, test drive, and save around 80 different events, then keep track of all of the new sharecodes.
For those who make more focused tracks an option should still be provided to lock our or restrict certain car classes or performance levels, but we should also have the option to let people pick whatever they want their race experience to be. Say, when we’re creating an event have the weather, time of day, laps, drivatars, etc have a ‘Selectable’ option which will then provide those playing the event to choose what they want whenever they are starting up the event.
Not only will this hugely boost the replay value of every race out there, it will also cut down on the amount of duplicate event posts to sort through. I’m far from the only event creator who will have multiple copies of a same route saved for things like having a different time of day or weather, with and without drivatars, and with different numbers of laps.
The current system is tedious!
