there is no sound of shifting gears in replay from the driver cam, is like the car is running in one gear the whole time and the acceleration indicator is not even moving
Yeah, I think this was also the case in Forza 3. It’s really annoying as I can’t properly record replays, as they sound god awful.
How has this not been addressed yet? Is this typical?
There were already similar problems in Forza Horizon 2 so I wouldn’t really count on it being fixed anytime soon if ever. Now not only are the gear switches bugged it seems that the replay doesn’t accurately keep track of your speed either. I watched a replay of myself driving through The Colossus and during times when I was going well over 300km/h it looked as if I wasn’t doing even half of that - it looked like the car stopped accelerating after it hit around 120. Totally useless feature considering how ridiculously scuffed it is, which is a shame, because in other games I often enjoy watching replays.
To fix the engine rev bug you must be in manual transmission. since the replay is a replay of your input and the inputs of the bots or other players with automatic there is no gear shift command. so even if you switch all AI will still be bugged slamming the redline. hope this helps/explains.
The bug also does not occur if you limit the frame rate to 30 fps (on PC) so I doubt it’s only a manual transmission thing.
The programming fix then would be to apply a gear shift command to the sound trigger of the automatic gears.
I scouted this post some months ago.
I see that’s is still going… Whatever source or explanation you can find to go around this problem, just know that ANY racing game on playstation 1 in 1997 was doing this without any issue.
How come a 2018 game with 3 years of patches still struggle with auto-shifting on replays… ?
