I’m not sure if the drone is new to Horizon I skipped the land of Kangaroos, it’s a cool feature and great for finding barns, however playground have missed a trick not putting a camera option on it, the picture’s you could take and the films you could make and edit would add a whole new niche to the game, maybe an idea for the next title.
It was available in the land of the kangaroos and it’s nice to see it back again but you’re right, it would be nice if we could take photos directly in drone mode. Perhaps there’s some sort of technical issue preventing it as it feels like a natural thing to be able to do There’s always taking an Xbox screenshot I suppose.

So the discussion of replays sort of inspired me. Is there a way to expand drone functions in freeroam and add to replays?
Replays first since this was origin of idea. We have current less than interesting replay. So what if there was drone replay option you could select instead of replay? Perhaps scrap existing replay to replace with the drone?
How it works is the drone flies itself unless you choose to unlock it. While locked, it will fly to and hold the position you set on a car or on the track route at a pace. The camera stays looking at a chosen target which can be a car or a different location on the track. It removes the need to have a bunch of different options to scroll through to try and keep a good view on action.
Simple and versatile. This can let a person also log the drone and replay with pauses to set up fixed cams, etc. Now they can run a replay on that “route” to record a full race cinematic without huds. Save replay to share on route. It allows people to check out other races on that same track or attach a preview to your blueprint!
Next is freeroam. Using same lock controls, you are flying around in your drone. Set it to follow a target either by following route they just drove (a delay so to speak) or just lock it to that car so you just need to worry about angle.
Gives clubs and users an easy way to watch or record stuff of interest to them.
Side note, no ghosting while in drone would be great.
