Was doing some runs on Costa Este, and just could not get first place. First place was consistently getting 1:38s so i decided to check the Rivals leaderboard and first place is literally slower than what the drivatar is achieving. Im all for really difficult races but at this point the AI might aswell teleport to the finish line.
, Until now what I’m seeing is the old AI because they drive exactly same way and still doing the same mistakes like:
• Excessive braking on corners like going 50 mph on corners you can go 60+
• Slowing down on places that there’s no need
This 2 problems are especially annoying because you are going very fast and suddenly need to avoid a almost stopped car on the middle of the road and sometimes it’s impossible to avoid.
• Whey they make corners at correct speeds they are very slow on straight lines, slow like a automatic transmission RWD on FH4
• If you are too close or touch their cars they will start ramming you
Until now it looks like the same old IA but a little faster but still easily beaten and considering the game is new and I’m still learning the new Map and new physics it’s very likely that still as slow as before
Playing on “unbeatable” feels like racing against noobs that use Meta/OP cars online, the car is fast but the driver is slow, normally racing games when you play on max difficult it is very hard to win but on Forza its always like playing on average difficult of other games
Well, as some of you predicted, the seasonal race is messed up. Highly Skilled, came in dead last and couldn’t even see 11th place. I finished 15 seconds behind first and their best lap was 5+ seconds faster than me.
Tried a 2nd time, managed to stay in 10th only because I blocked the two behind me every time they were coming up 20 MPH faster than me out of a corner. The state of many of these races is flat out broken now.
Edit: I should add that the above is about the Teotihuacan Scramble. The one that starts with the Emerald Circuit is fine.
Almost ditto, but I finished 10th on my first go with some blocking on corners. I was surprised because in FH4, the dirt sections of such races are where I normally have an advantage over the drivatars, but I couldn’t catch the cars ahead of me at all on any part of the circuit.
Won the other two races to win the series, but not without considerable effort. Generally it was taking me until the third lap when the cars in the lead would seem to slow down, and I was able to squeeze past them.
I had the same problem with the seasonal races. “Letting off steam” and “New kid on the block” were basically impossible to place any higher than about 8th. In FH4 (when on highly skilled), I would usually get past the main group of AI cars within the first half a lap, and only had one other car that was a bit troublesome, but I ALWAYS won those races. In FH5 though, there is always a group of 6-7 cars that are just simply way faster than my car is, regardless of the PI. They also have much better handling on wet roads than I do. “It’s raining sideways” was oddly ok, and was surprised that my car had as much grip in the rain as it did. Based on the performance of the other two series, I should have been sliding all over the track, but my car behaved as though on dry tarmac.
I managed to win the race. I had to find a good offroad/AWD tune for a Cayman. I think it had max downforce so it worked well on the road as well. The key is to attack those corners in the dirt. Go faster than you’d like, cut them as much as you can and you can make up ground here. With this setup, the other two were easy wins.
I made some tunes for that, they make it easy. Use my user name. Audi TT RS … Code 180 080 577. I did an even better tune, but I can’t remember what the car was.
The same problems exist from fh4 but to a worse extent. The worst is in “circuit” racing. Im consistently half a second a lap or more then the drivatars on unbeatable. Except I have little chance of catching the leader(s) on most tracks on unbeatable because of the advantage the front of the pack gets. While your stuck starting in the back and fighting thru 10 11 other ai, the leader in an equally fast car as you in most cases has a clear run. Either the races need to be longer or somehow the advantage needs to be lessened. There is no skill involved when the track is 2 or 3 cars wide and your being blocked by 8 without the ability to go partially on the grass without being slowed to a crawl so they pass you back.
3 laps isn’t long enough even with a half a second a lap faster pace to make up the advantage of not being stuck behind 6 ai cars who go into the first 90 degree turn thinking they can go 5 wide and bottle necking you behind them for 3 seconds. Pro is boring and unbeatable is a restart slog when you can’t make it thru turn 1 without your race being pointless. I’d be interested in maybe a 1 lap qualifying before the 3 lap race or make it 5 lap races… altho that would be boring if your crushing the ai as well so I don’t know. Plus none of that would work for the casuals who think 5 min races is to long.
Atleast in the street races you can get lucky and get a slower car out front that holds up the cars as fast as yours. So when you get stuck on a 2 lane road behind 6 other drivers. The other fast cars are being held up as well so it becomes a race of skill.
I’m doing the Copper Canyon CC on Highly Skilled and I noticed as I got better the 1st placed drivatar got faster, I’ve done maybe 20 -30 runs in a row getting 2nd place every time unless I crashed. The 1st placed drivatar is consistently doing top 20 rivals times every race now, and this is only on highly skilled. It seems like it doesn’t matter how well I take the corners in the second half of the course the strongest drivatar always gets just that little bit extra speed. I played the seasonal championships earlier today on the same difficulty and won them all easily, the Emerald Circuit race they were so far behind it was a joke. I’m all for the extra difficulty, I’m looking forward to posting an awesome rivals time once I can finish this race, it should be easier without the AI blocking and ramming me XD. It’s the consistency that is the issue, I want to be able to put the game on a difficulty level and notice my improvement, not have the races seem like the scripted showcase events where the AI speed up or slow down based on how well you are doing. I can crash 3 times in a road or street race and still easily win while CC is like I need to do a perfect rivals run everytime, Dirt is the best challenge but like the others they are all highly dependent on car and track choice. Just needed to rant and know I’m not alone
Difficulty is inadequate for now. And I’m dissapointed that we don’t have the limit to drivatar’s agression. I want to race clean and constantly catching some stupid drivatars on the turns. In FH3 we had that option!
One thing for now I know for shure is that drivatars using different types of tires according to surface. You can look yourself. If you are using stock car or mooded doesn’t matter you can choose dirt race and they will be on DIRT tires!!! Even if you are not!
I finished FH4 using only stock cars because I like to explore original feel of the cars and I raced against unbeatable drivatars, that was a challenge but it was real now it could be unreal to get 1st place on a stock car even on expert. It shouldn’t be that way!
Just did the Gauntlet on ‘new racer’ difficulty and the AI were never far away, despite that I was driving without regard for being clean, riding walls at times etc. If these were really ‘new racers’ they would be miles behind. Oh, if these super long races come up in online adventures they will be lobby emptiers, nobody wants to play a nearly 20 minute race (in addition to the other four races in an adventure).
For my first attempt on Gauntlet I was using stock EVO X (pi649) and unbeatable AI. For first 25% of the track I wasn’t able to get higher than 9th position and still was fighting with AI behind me. At 50% I managed to get into 3rd position and at the bottom of volcano finally got into 1st. Track finished in 24min, so basically for first 10min I was questioning myself what is going on.
PS. Now in blueprintss you can add rules that e.g. change power of cars in different positions/track completion. Maybe AI was slowed down after that 40%?
There is HEAVY rubber banding in races, both in your advantage and disadvantage. Check what happens at around 70% in any race… it is insane how much the AI slows down for a bit. Then when you pass them all the number 2 will stay close to you and sometimes even overtake you on straights regardless of how well you drive. Obviously car choice is a big matter in this too. If you really have a car that outperforms all others at the same PI then you won’t notice much of all of this as you’ll be ahead anyway (but the number 2 stays weirdly close nonetheless)
However, I found the rubber banding is not there (as much?) when you play co-op, which is interesting.
