Drifting Tips for Forzathon - 3 Star Challenge

Morning all,

Like a few people here, I am not a good drifter. I can barely manage two stars in many of the zones and I am finding myself struggling with the latest ‘3 Stars in 3 Drift Zones’ challenge. I have seen a few tip posts from various posters in other threads, but I thought it would be nice to compile them all in one place if anybody has anything to contribute.

  • Best drift cars / tunes?
  • Drift locations - top 3 for challenge?
  • Tactics / methods?

Celica 74
Tune Don Joewon Song. Awd in c class.
Any tarmac zones.
Drive in 3rd gear close to max revs, ebrake and steer to start the slide, steer into slide.

Thank you for the info, I’ll try this when I get in from work.

Pretty much every car in the game can be used to get 3 stars. The drifting may not be pretty but it doesn’t really matter. For example I’ve done 3 star drifts in a raptor. Lol.

All drift zones are ok as long as the traffic isn’t in your way. That’s the issue I’ve noticed most. It’s easier to hold the drift in the dirt though; however, when it’s raining the street layouts are just as good.

As for tactics, I’ve learned to not approach the zones too fast. Usually around 100mph is about as fast as you need to approach. It’s also good to start off with a pretty quick ebrake initiated drift and drive into the drift with gas at 50%. You may go off course on exit but usually you’ll start off around 20k. Then finish the layout swerving left to right and at the bends ebrake and nearly floor it (if going kinda slow). You’ll be able to nickle and dime your way to the 3 star mark.

Some layouts are easier one way than the other. I’ve noticed on some layouts that going downhill makes it easier to accrue larger point figures since you’re usually going faster.

There’s one thing I have been getting wrong. I have never been anywhere close to that fast. 40-50 is where I have been trying to do it.

What I do is get to about that 100mph, let off the gas right before the start and ebrake once I hit the zone. You’ll get a pretty big slide and usually the car will stay on the track. There’s one layout I remember only going 80mph because the first turn was a steep downward left hander.

After that Im usually around 65mph.

From what I’ve gathered you get more points the faster you’re going in the drift. So my strategy is to hit a massive drift at first in case I’m not able to accrue more points later on due to traffic.

Usually it takes me 2-4 tries to get 3 stars.

There’s a Trueno A-class tune called “Perfect Drift” that made these so easy. I don’t know the tuner’s name, not at home ATM.

Trueno with a rally car engine. 300 HP. Add sport suspension and sway bars. Done. Drifting is much easier.

Still a C class car too.

Thank you for the help everyone. It seemed that my problem was going far too slowly and chaining together lots of small drifts. When I sped up the points seemed to roll in and I got 3 stars pretty quickly in about 6 different zones. Used an S1 class Ae86 with rwd.

Edit: Ignore.
