I have had this game since the first day it came out and when I downloaded the nascar expansion the drafting scores were working fine. But now I get no drafting scores in ANY mode even the modes that aren’t nascar…the drafting scores do not show up in regular multiplayer or anything. It is really frustrating because I want the dirty air achievement ( I have 4 percent completed and then the drafting scores just stopped ). I tried reinstalling the whole game and nothing… Please could someone help me out???
Purchasing the NASCAR expansion disables drafting records until you progress through the first few races of the NASCAR World Tour. You’ll be introduced to aerodynamics and then the drafting alerts will start appearing again.

@clarkbrats - Drafting is advantageous to the person in front and even handled like Indy you can do a leap frog every lap or sit behind not at full throttle (real race they leap frog). Or with a partner in Daytona the two of you can do 240mph on straights instead of 238mph so yes drafting helps the person in front
With a car directly behind you you have less drag (the low pressure that usually happens doesn’t happen because car is there to smooth out the airflow) Less drag = advantage
Drafting scores do work, but you must get very close to your opponent’s rear bumper for it to give you perfect draft scores. It’s much harder now than before, but it’s doable. Try racing on Daytona’s oval course, it’s much easier to get a long-lasting draft there. Hope that helps, and good luck!

I don’t know about drafting scores but it does gut me when I’m on a clean lap and some dude behind me starts drafting and I loose my clean lap when I get no advantage. Hope you find out why your not getting draft scores
You will get the advantage at Daytona and Indy because you can see your speed go up. Say you normally hit 238 at the end of the back straight you will be doing 240. But they have to be behind you for a little bit. And it can be hard for the following car to be able to be able to pass the front car. Unless you know how to do it.
In Nascar it seems like the draft effect starts at 200 feet and below. Also the speed is about 120 mph when it seems to put the dreaded triangle next to your times.
It’s annoying. I don’t know if it was done on purpose or by accident, but I would like to have it changed back. It seems random when it works, and when it does work, they pop up like every second when following someone.
I did not download the Nascar pack and still the drafting alerts stopped. If Turn 10 are going to fix this, it would be nice for them to blog it somewhere. Then again do they really care?
Same here. I was wondering what happened to drafting, didn’t know it was related to the Nascar expansion which I do not own. So, if I understand it correctly, I need to purchase the Nascar expansion and reach a certain level of progression to have drafting work again? What if I do not wish to purchase the expansion? Any way to have drafting work again? On the plus side, I do get a lot more clean laps in career now.
It does still work, but it is a lot tougher. You have to be at a much higher speed compared to the 100 mph from before and you have to be closer.
I really want them to change it back.
Same problem, I don’t have a NASCAR Expansion and no Perfect Draft or Good Draft since NASCAR Expansion released. I understand, that it’s new Achievement to get 100 Perfect Drafts in NASCAR Expansion, but must I have it? I tried many times at Daytona or Monza Tracks, but still no Drafts. Or can I draft without NASCAR Expansion?
I can understand needing to be closer to the car in front, but increasing the speed to 120 just makes no sense. if they are trying to make this more of a simulation then it should be lower, more like around 55 or 60. my guess is that they don’t make it that low because it would be much harder to get clean laps.
i guess i am just going to have to be content racing on ovals to get perfect drafts, even though my passion is road courses.
My stats page shows 376 perfect drafts, yet the acheivement has not been unlocked, and shows only 14%
