Did you tune the car or just run stock. Since i didnt want to upgrade the car i tuned it because i knew the cpu would have upgrades. I dont remember exactly when i passed them to compare. Ill run it again when i have a chance. What place did you start?
Hopefully this works. Either way stock parts, custom tune, manual w/clutch, controller, no traction, no abs, no stability, level 8 expert rules. Started 12th, got behind top 3 by the straight, passed them then on 2nd lap passed p1.
Also didn’t notice the AI having an advantage on the Watkins straight against my stock build. I think I was running best laps in the 31s and seemed to have equivalent pace on the straights but took huge time out of them particularly in the chicane.
That said, it’s plausible that they could have more acceleration at a similar PI. Even the stock build has rear aero, so minimising that would have increased speed down any straight. I also noticed some were running with the wing removed entirely, presumably with a ballast addition to balance, which could also give more top end speed.
I just adjusted the suspension but the car was stock otherwise.
I started last. I’m always able to beat the AI at lvl 8 albeit with a tune and a max PI but this was way harder. I think I finished 3rd first time l, then re ran it. I was even looking at peat torque and HP on telemetry to make sure I got my shifting points right.
Maybe I’m just losing my marbles, who knows
They are harder than usual Level 8 AI because they are very close to the max PI level. Usually if you fully upgrade your car to the top of the relevant PI class, the AI will be 25-30PI lower. Unsurprisingly, they then are easier to deal with.
I thought this was an excellent career event. I also start last against the Level 8 AI and it was not easy to win. It took me 4 attempts to get my car tuned well enough to win but that’s how it should be. Overtaking 23 drivers in 4 laps on max difficulty should be challenging. The option if it is too difficult is always there to start higher up the grid.
Yes. totally agree, however getting gapped on the straight seemed off. Anyway, just my observation
I’m seeing similar issues with lack of AI tire wear compared to the player.
9 laps at Brands Hatch I noticed that several AI cars did not have to pit at all. I drove Ferrari #62 488 upgraded to P900. It is heavy rear eng with significant to torque to rears. So I expect heavier wear on rear tires. On hards I needed to pit after 4 or 5 laps. Where the AI Porsche did not have to pit at all and finished the race with only about 82% wear across all 4 tires.
I checked the AI telemetry on the replay some of the AI was wearing about 3x less than my hard tires. I can’t image this is just a setup difference. It seems bugged.
The AI does not attempt to pass if the car ahead in on the racing line. If the trailing car is faster than the leading car you will see that the trailing car will yo-yo between 25 and 60 feet (you can change the display to show distance instead of time).
This is not true. I just finished a 16 lap race of Le Mans and it appeared that every AI car pitted twice, at least that is what the 2-4th place cars showed. I witnessed 2 of them pit as they were ahead of me when they did this.
What the AI does appear to be excluded from is being penalized for running into you.
I only do endurance at The Nord so maybe it’s a track related issue?
As for the A.I penalties you are correct, they hardly ever seem to get penalties as the players do
