Does it count the design as downloaded? I guess if then used it counts as used too? Is design locked to car and purchaser can’t remove it? Thinking auction house may be an option to get paints seen by more but I never mess with it? Any thoughts on this? Thanks
Since it’s return Ive used the Auction House in Horizon 3 & FM7 to sell paints that were deliberately not made available on my Storefront.
Carrying on through to Horizon 4 I’ve noticed that none of the design files that I’ve sold through auctions have any stats for Likes, Downloads or Popularity. Some clarity on this would be most welcome but in the absence of that I work on the principle that they are Auction House only designs & therefore I’m happy to take the one-off payment I get for flipping the car compared to the paltry amount we receive for Downloads, Likes & Uses on shared designs.
In regards to your other question, any designs on cars bought at Auction can be removed by the buyer. So in my case I wasn’t so naive to think that everyone who bought one of my Horizon 3 (156) or FM7 (355) auctions kept the design… but I did make a lot of CRs - can’t remember exactly, I had it written down somewhere, but to give you an idea in FM7 it was around the 170 million mark for the year that I played the game.
Who knows what the percentage of buyers not only retained the design but also looked up my Storefront paints was? Who cares? LoL! Even my most downloaded, used & liked car wouldn’t make as much as ONE AH sale so for me the time & effort spent was worth it. That’s just for me, obviously there are other painters out there who’s Storefronts are so busy that they easily make just as much or more as I could in the AH. I think each person has to work out how they want to play the game & then choose the system which gives them the best chance to achieve that.

What about if they auction a car off with your design? Do you get anything for you being listed as the painter?
Good question Net Sh4rk, I wish I knew the answer but at a guess I’d say “yes”.
At least I think it would make sense that when a car is sold with a design that particular design file should register a download & then again for each subsequent resale… but who knows for sure? shrugs
