Dont like bathurst and Le mans …
Bathurst is very technical. you need Speed for the 3 straights… but the entire hill is where you need downforce. I watch alot of Australian V8, and Bathurst is my favorite venue. The last corner down the hill before you get to the straight away is a hellish corner and usually gets me. Le Mans is one of my all time favorites, and cant wait to join a LMS series. Bathurst by far right now though is super tricky.
LeMans (LaSarthe ) - just because of Dirty Lap times - I does get a bit frustrating trying to put in a good fast clean lap in. I will always find a place to mess up a clean lap in the 8.5 miles. Nordshleife as well for dirty laps versus clean.
Nemisis meaning I don’t like the track and it doesn’t like me: Top gear TT, Leguna Seca use to be on this list( but I’ve come a long way on it)- Not all that fond of Catalunya (I’ll get pretty decent times but I always feel like I’m screwing it up while I’m doing them)
Yas, with all those retarded switchback corners GRRRRR.
Bathurst, THOSE STUPID ESSES >,<: there is nothing like nailing every corner, seeing green all the way .5xx or more and then your side taps that stupid guard wall.
Don’t get me wrong I am getting faster and faster as I learn more about those tracks, but it still grinds my gears when I get caught out.
I’ve never liked Bernese Alps in any of its formations. Not a fan of Prague either. Bathurst is awesome though and it’s supposed to be dark since the race is taking place at sunset.
Spa does not like me.
Bernese Alps. I’ve got a friend I play against in rivals mode, whose times I can easily beat on almost every track by about 1 to 3 seconds, on the first 2 or 3 laps… on Alps Festival? Just recently managed to beat his time by a couple tenths of a second after struggling for over 30 laps in one session. So frustrating! (but at least the payout was pretty sweet afterwards, haha)
i can race most tracks clean without a problem. but on Le Mans i have a terrible time actually being fast. i love the little bugatti track… but the stupid main track ticks me off beyond belief. personally, if i had to drive around that track, i’d just go straight on at the end of the straight to put myself out of the misery. it’s a giant straightaway, and a few easy sweeper corners. essentially, if i’m a bit drowsy and the idiocracy votes to send us to LeMans, it’s probably where i fall asleep and decide to go to bed. i tune all my cars for handling, because on actual not-retarded tracks, the corners are where the races are won and lost. but to be competitive at Le Mans, you need to have more power than handling, which means i’m never satisfied with my tunes for that track, because no matter what i do to the tuning of the car, it feels horrible because it won’t do corners properly. i absolutely loathe that track. i’d trade Le Mans and one of my pinky toes to have Suzuka and/or the nurburgring. i could drive around those tracks for hours nonstop and never get bored, but on Le Mans, i contemplate pulling off the road at the start of the race and making a sandwich.
rant over. now, to the question at hand:
the secret to clean laps (and, indeed many other things) is, as Bob Lee Swagger said, “slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” the secret to doing well in this game is not to drive as fast as possible at all times. the secret is never going slower than you need to be. you can’t crash fast enough to make up for a good corner. make driving fast your priority, and you will have a hard time driving clean. make driving clean your priority, and speed will come soon enough.
I don’t see why Bathurst is such a pain for so many. I enjoy driving it. What I don’t care for is Yas Marina.
Laguna Seca. It’s not a bad track, and I’m not bad on it, it’s just that it’s been in almost EVERY racing game I’ve played since '97. I’m just sick of 'er.
@ IceMan PJN: It’s all the blind corners that ppl find challenging on Bathurst. Even once you’ve memorized the line, you gotta be real accurate on the brakes.
Bugatti Circuit and Yas Marina. Grrrr.
I love Bathurst on the other hand, lots of late night real world driving experience there ![]()
Its Prague for me, I’m not a fan of street tracks. It is oh-so-pretty, but i just cant get on with it. Always makes me feel like I’m playing PGR.
Bathurst, Spa, Yas Marina are great additions for me.
One thing that really winds me up is the way the anoucer mis pronounces Spa (the end s in francorchamps is silent)and the ‘Marsda’ Laguna Seca raceway. And that a coupé suddenly becomes a koop for that matter! I know it is silly, but its the little things. Car people know how to pronounce these things.
Agreed. Just cant take that track seriously, not one that would ever be used in a race series imo. Great for showing off the graphics but it doesn’t feel like an actual circuit of any sort.
Road Atlanta, the run after turn 1 I just can’t get a rythem.

The Alps have always been the one track I struggle on the most, but in FM5, I seem to like it more and more, I don’t know why. But I still struggle there and then like everyone else, Bathurst.
Laguna Seca, just don’t get on with it,never have
My seventh level of hell is Bathurst, but having raced it almost exclusively the last two days trying to claim golds for races I didn’t do well in at the outset, I can get gold on it, but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a clean lap except twice with the Drivatars on average.
My sixth level of hell is Yas Marina - to date 98% of my races have been career, and the Drivatars are murderous on that track.
My favorites are Prague and Alps - I can almost always post clean laps during a career race on them, and I love sliding round big corners.

I would have to say Yas Marina. I always find it hard to lay down clean laps even if i’m just test driving and tuning. Its a beautiful track but I cant say I enjoy the racing much. As far as Le Mans its a fast track and I have no problem racing there. I think its a great and exciting track and I love all of the turns especially the last few. If you aren’t enjoying it try making a specific tune for lemans with more power or a different rear end ratio.
bathurst
The track that I would consider my “nemesis” track would Yas Marina. That’s my worse track, but lately I’ve been driving on it more to get better at it. Bathurst and Le Mans are my favorite tracks next to Prague and the Alps.
