Haven’t seen any similar problems listed here recently so I’ll post this. Sunday night our league had a race at Lime Rock. It was a 45 lap race with one quickstop, 24 players in the lobby. All through the race the game chat would drop in and out, but that’s been happening for a while so that’s nothing new. The real problem arose when after making a pit stop one of the cars was completely invisible to about half the lobby. To the point that they could hit him and it would not affect their own car at all, it was if he didn’t exist. I remember something like that happening FM6, but that was always at the start of a race, not mid way through. So naturally with an invisible car as soon as the chat went out again and he couldn’t tell people where he was he got punted. Each problem is bad enough by itself, but combined they were brutal
This happened again in our race this week. After pitting one of the cars disappeared. He could not be seen by about half the field and if someone who couldn’t see him made contact with him it was as if he wasn’t there to them, but to him he was being hit and pushed off track
I noticed this problem too. In the earlier days of FM7 we discovered that this problem always shows up when we drove with forced stock upgrades and tuning. Sometimes a few players cannot be seen by some of the other players from the start, and sometimes the problem appeard after the driver did his quick stop.
Now it doesnt seem to be triggered by any car restriction, but always appears after the quick stops.
Last time we drove in a private multiplayer lobby with about 12 drivers, had no car restrictions, collision on standard, damage on simulation, 2 quick stops, manual start grid, no friction assistant allowed, easiest steering normal, ABS off, TCS normal and shifting automatic (always easiest, drivers use different driving aids).
You can recognize the problem by observing the distance meter. If one players distance is jumping up and down you will not see him anymore on the track, but you can hit him when he can still see you (whats often the case).
I dont need to say that this is very frustrating, especially when you drive long planned races with high distance.
Who noticed this problem too ?
Does anyone know the reason or has a workaround to avoid this problem ?
When we want to drive the same track twice in a row we began to load another track in between to prevent us from the Sound Bug (players cannot hear their own car in online races). This seems to fix problems with invisible cars too. I’ll keep it in the eye.
