I get that if you buy the digital version from anywhere you get access to both the Win 10 and the Xbox download and you just use what you want, I do believe that.
But it’s things like the above mentioned problems, where a Win 10 link to takes you to what appears to be an Xbox only pre-order, that have led me to avoid the MS, Win 10 and Xbox stores and have delayed my own pre-order. For such a big cross platform release it’s really bad of them not to make things perfectly clear on their various stores and they should have it up in the MS/Win 10 store by now, for all appropriate countries.
Personally, I’ll be going though Amazon or Game here in the UK as they both list it correctly for both systems, although part of that is because going that way I don’t have to give MS my payment details.
There is a possibility that they were waiting for the game to go gold (which it now has) before they added it to the MS/Win 10 store. A small hope maybe, but it is a hope. It’s also about time they gave the required specs out, there’s no excuse now the game is finished.
EDIT: Found out the specs had been released after I posted this.
I have to admit that i don’t see in the app Windows store …Well, gonna follow your advice and wait till 13th .
The thing that worry me is that i’ve seen other French/Belgian that seem to have it on the store (and their Library)… But hopefully it’ll appear for the xbox anywhere “opening”.
As for the link crash, strangely, when i got there through Edge, this time, it didn’t crashed and confirmed that i own the game…this should reassure me a bit (as i know it’s on my 2 accounts (Xbox and Microsoft account) and that i have the digital version(verified when i tried to obtain help)… i just hope everything will be fixed by the time of the release.
I can see it in my purchases in the microsoft store (buy the UE on xbox 1), but it shows me not “purchased” on the game site.
Edit : i have found it and it says purchased. But not a preload option at this moment. I dont run the Aniversary Update on the moment because of the xbox 1 controller problems. I hope they fix this soon so i can go back tu the actual win 10 version
What worries me is this verbiage on the product page. Not only is there no “PC” logo (playable on XBOX1 - no PC to be found), the instructions fotr installation clearly say: " Installation: Install on your home Xbox One console plus have access when you’re connected to your Microsoft account. "
This implies you must have an Xbox 1 and install the game on your xbox 1, before you can avail of the Play Anywhere. Shame on Microsoft for still not giving us a clear message.

For what it’s worth I just finished up a chat with Microsoft support agent named Nick, who assured me that buying the digital version from the windows store, even tho it says Xbox1, is correct. He conceded this is confusing and showed it to other people in his office who agreed. But he said he is 100% certain it will show up in my windows store for download when it’s released, and I needn’t worry about not owning an xbox1. He gave me a ticket number too, and said if there is any problem they will just refund me
Thanks for posting this. I’m currently in the same boat. I just want to be able to pre-load on PC and get it done with. It looks like I’ll have to wait a little longer.
For what it’s worth, your question didn’t specify if you could play it without owning an XB1. I know it’s a minor detail, but it’s important. You can absolutely play this game on Windows 10, but the more I look in to it it looks like you can only do so as a secondary platform to the primary XB1 that is a requirement to play the game.
I honestly think these support staff guys are simply incompetent, nothing to worry about.
It was officially announced that FH3 is comming to Windows 10, there are system requirements and information about 4K and various graphic settings.
“No, you can only stream it from your xbox” sounds like someone who’ve been in a bunker for the past 5 months. And that’s someone who’s working at MS, lol.
Don’t go crazy, people, we’re getting our game, it’ll be fine.
I mentioned in a post further up that they may have been waiting for it to go gold before adding it to the store.
I understand how people are concerned about getting an X1 only version. But for this whole streaming nonsense a quick look at the video footage that’s posted everywhere will show FH3 running on PC in 4K. How exactly do people think the X1 is running and then streaming 4K footage??
MS support (like most support) are largely braindead individuals reading from a script. Their words should be taken with a pinch of salt. How many times have we seen a thread stating a serious p problem and their only answer is to clear the cache. LOL.
Thanks for that info. Unfortunately for my problem, it’s raising back my worries as i can see in the search Windows that it’s on the store but if i click on it, it says “the article you search cannot be found” with an error 0x00000005…no matter what region i choosed (the market seem stuck to the french one)
Same on the store via Edge/IE too.
I’ll leave it like that for a couple of days but less than a month from release, it fail to make reassur me to see many people seeing properly the game while i can’t .
(BTW, i did try quite some things as WSreset, remove and reinstall WStore , etc…Nothing work)
The worst part is that i’ll have to contact (again) Microsoft…yeap, they are that bad (talking bout support)
I might turn this in to a game and see how many different responses I can get. Here is the latest, much more promising response:

Thank you for waiting. Forza Horizon 3 is an Xbox anywhere game. Which means you can play it on both Xbox one or PC. You do not need an Xbox one to play it. Let me send you a link to our Xbox one games so you can check them out.

so i just buy the XB1 version and can play it on PC?
I believe I made it clear in the FAQ pinned at the top of the forum but if the description could be made more clear please provide questions coming from different angles (or if it makes sense to you, rephrase it so I can consider using better description) so I can address them in the single post.
