We are looking for some fresh ideas for next season’s Formula Drift livery and decided to post a contest to challenge the creative minds here!
The selected design will be chosen by our staff as well as our FD driver Dean “Karnage” Kearney. Winner will get full credit for the design as well as a $500 ORACLE Lighting credit toward any purchases.
Vehicle:: Dodge Viper SRT-10 Roadster
Color Pallet:: Deep Orange, White, Charcoal, Black, Silvers.
Title Sponsor Logo:: ORACLE Lighting
Tire Sponsor Logo:: Achilles Radial
We are hoping to see a new and exciting design with good contrast so that sponsor logos stand out against the graphic design.
This seems really cool. I might just have a crack at this.
Okay, I’ve had a go and here is what I came up with.
Design Explanation
Keeping in the “Carnage” theme I decided to continue with last years tears and ragged edges however for this design I expanded upon the theme and added abstract explosions on the front and back. Particles shoot at rapid speed from the explosions and can be seen up and down the car furthering the sense that this car is moving even when it’s parked. I have incorporated all of your colors in various ways including many shades of grey found in the tears along each side and onto the front. The orange along the rocker panels provides a bright color which can easily pop and contrast with any sponsor decals placed in that area and the black running along the cars “high waist” does the same. In this version of the design I have the “Oracle Ligthing” logo boxed to pop against the white middle tear but that could be easily changed to a different version of your logo. Now I shall let the pictures do the talking.
NOTE: Due to an in-game glitch the front grey area cannot be painted with vinyl groups. This is where I would have placed the Oracle logo that is now further back on the hood.
I normally don’t do drift designs my gallery located here:
tends to be filled with vintage race cars so this was a fun and funky challenge which allowed me to unleash a whole new abstract side of my design work. Thanks for the opportunity and best of luck to all entrants.
Some cracking photos and design in this thread already! Sweet photo there Coops!
Here is my entry:
Here is what it would look like going sideways at Round 1 of Formula Drift at Long Beach
Design is shared in game. Filename: D.Kearney 2015 Car: '08 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR
There is no ‘black’ on this car, it’s an all Carbon Fiber Body base with graphics. I tried to implement some features of the old design but make them seem fresh and new. I altered the colours of the Oracle Lights logo to make it look like it’s glowing off the car, almost as if it was illuminated. I have included a ‘secret Achilles Eye’ into the background of the graphics overlay just under where the Achilles logo is placed. Due to in game glitches and body model deadzones some logo couldn’t be place in my preferred areas. The un-paintable front bumper glitch has already been mentioned, where I would have placed another Oracle Lights Logo and had this been on a real car I would have made the Achilles logo a little bigger too.
I even tried to replicate the ‘Drift Smoke Holes’ on the rear bumper.
Working to the beautiful curves of the Viper i came up with this fast flowing layout which seems to just glide along, perfect for a drift car. The Oracle Badge takes priority and acts as the base image for the design and i have made it chrome to stand out against once the lighting hits it. I have left the Roof plain black except for the windscreen decals as the car is actually a roadster and Forza 5 doesn’t have that model.
• Note: There is a big glitch on the front bumper which does not allow you to paint anything on there, i was planning to put the Oracle Lighting logo on there similar to the 2014 design.
• Colours, Sponsers, Positioning can all be adjusted if picked, I hope you like it as much as i enjoyed designing it. Good luck everyone
If these are facts, it’s a disgrace. I did find it strange that I never saw the “new” design on the earlier Oracle Facebook poll, which also made me belief that the final design was copied from around here. Adding that to the OP’s lack of basic common practice, at least we know who to send to h… next time. Agree with Yakov that we at least now have some brilliant Viper designs.
That’s what I was afraid would happen… Not much anybody can do either, aside from trying to contact the team and/or driver themselves. The one positive side to this is we did get some fantastic drift liveries for the Viper!
